SOLVED. Detective book, detective is trying to find the owner of a lost dog, the dogs family are being held hostage in their house. [s]

I read this book on holiday this year but I borrowed it from my hotel. The detective was a rogue detective based near London. I remember the dog escaped because it was dropped through a chimney.

I also remember the father of the family was being targeted by an old company he worked for because he was writing a book that was going to expose some wrongdoing within the company.

A serial killer was also involved, who’s signature was to display the innards of his victims in the trees. Gruesome.

The detective knew an old homeless guy with no name that helped him sometimes.

The serial killer killed the house maid, and possibly some of the hostages before he was killed himself, he also set up a distraction / calling care of displayed innards in a similar way to the crime of years before.
Please help I’m hoping there’s more books for this detective.
