Luke (korrick) | 2004 comments The Loom and Other Stories, R. A. Sasaki, 1991, United States, SHORT STORIES

"...In other stories, the voice changes to third person and the mood is quiet and reflective, describing the colors in a weaving: "white, the color of five sets of sheets, which she had washed, hung out, and ironed each week—also the color of the bathroom sink and the lather of shampoo against four small black heads"; or the language spoken at home: "Theirs was a comfortable language, like a comfortable old sweater that had been well washed and rendered shapeless by wear...It was a personal thing, like a hole in one's sock, which was perfectly all right at home but would be a horrible embarrassment if seen by yoso no hito."..."
