A place to link or list Top "X" of "X" books.

I know GoodReads has Listopia but its always nice to have a bit more of a chat about things our members find!

Sparked as I came across this today:

100 Must-Read Books: The Essential Man’s Library

"Narrowed down the top 100 books that have shaped the lives of individual men while also helping define broader cultural ideas of what it means to be a man"

9/100 - terrible!! :O

GoodReads Listopia for the "100 Must Read Books: The Essential Man's Library"

5 or 6 /100... perhaps because we are not men? :P Though in all seriousness it is a bit shocking!

If anyone is interested, there is a Listopia Link too, which I've stuck in the original post.

Trillian 7/100 and half of Ulysses (paused it after about 50% and finally need to finish it) and parts of Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes :)

Here is Amazon's 100 books to Read in a Lifetime - This is the editors 100. You can vote for yours on GoodReads.

I'm currently on about 20.5/100 on the Amazon list. A really good mix of books in that list I reckon!

On the current top 100 on GoodReads I have 37/100.

One of my favorite lists is the Top 25 Fantasy book list, cause it is way more than a list.
It has some really good explanations about what the books are about and then gives you a lot(!) of recommendations based on that book. It's a great read and even held some surprises for me and make me added some series that had slipped under my radar so far.

UGH NOOOOO MORE BOOKS TO READ.

Tempted to add a 'keep-note' shelf or something, where I can look through and keep track of books I MIGHT want to read, but I'm not sure about yet...

I kind of do that with the to-read shelf. It's very easy to spot a book that seems somhow interesting and as the "want to read" button is always so close I use the to-read list as a reminder of everything I found remotely interesting. When I acquire the book it moves to a second list as well, which manages the books I own and might want to read next.

It all goes on my to read list which is growing uncontrollably but at least I know where to look :) I'm going to have to check or that list too the wails about more books have peaked my curiosity and the fact that it apparently explains why you should read it is cool :)

Joey (mostlyjoe) | 178 comments So I put in a search here on GoodReads for "cyborgs" thinking I'd get cool lists about bionic people. Well I did a few and a few I did not expect...

Bride kidnapping, marriage by abduction, marriage by capture, rape of the Sabine women style novels/short stories.

erotica and romance's men, vamps and alien males with endowed and unique penises

Impregnation Stories are Domination at its Finest

Monogamy's DNA. Monogamy is genetic and impossible to avoid it romance novels!

The list goes on...but I was like wut?. Goodreads are you okay?

LOL, Oh my goodness. Absolutely.

I'm have such a hard time finding a really good space opera with a love story, without it being way too much in that field.

Any suggestions of a fast-paced, clean space opera?

Cat at Galaxy Press

ahaha oh my gosh that's terrible! obviously many people have a cyborg fetish?!

message 22: by Joey (new)

Joey (mostlyjoe) | 178 comments I would guess so. Mind you there IS good Cyborg romance/drama books out there.

Freak of Nature (IFICS, #1) by Julia Crane was on sale and doesn't look all that bad. Turns into a romance spy thriller as the series goes on.
