I'm not entirely sure how to feel about Halloween Party. (view spoiler)[It certainly shows how far some are willing to go for revenge, even hurting innocent people in the process. I can understand Justine being angry, but to go to murder and arson?

Without Niki being deaf they never would have made it out alive...

And if I was them I would said "Let her go, good riddins" when Justine ran back into the burning house. She just tried to murder them all for something that happened before they were born. I'm sorry but trying to burn people to death for something that their parents did before they were even born means you get NO sympathy from me. Heck I was surprised when Niki was able to speak sympathetically to Uncle Philip.

Granted he isn't a murderer but under the circumstances I still would have been pissed at him in the moment. Though i'll cool down later in regards to him, while he screwed up in raising Justine and in the whole planning of the party to make them suffer at all in the first place, when they didn't do anything, he didn't think it would go as far as it did. So I wouldn't like him but maybe not hate him...like Justine. Screw Justine. (hide spoiler)]

I'm thinking around 3 stars...maybe 3.5. I liked it but it isn't a favorite.

I really don't like how entitled to join the team the sisters (and the mother, and the coach) think they are just because they were all-state. It really wasn't fair that they were let in after tryouts were over and a girl got kicked off. If anything, they should have been made the backup cheerleaders instead of kicking someone who already made the team. (hide spoiler)]

This article showed up on Facebook. 14 things about fear street. It does contain spoilers for The Best Friend and Silent Night. I didn’t read about Silent Night. I’m so going to waltz right into books a million in July and buy that new fear street.

Interesting article. I actually remember reading Silent Night when I was younger, though I don't remember details just that I hated the main character but I think I liked the book.

I finished Halloween Party. It was entertaining, but a little predictable. Also Bobby and Marty the motorcycle idiots were just really annoying. I'm giving it 3 stars.

I'm thinking of reading The Secret Bedroom this weekend. I'm really anxious to reread this one. I love the cover. and I've been thinking about rereading the 2nd cheerleaders book. I don't have the 3rd one yet.

I don't believe i've read The Secret Bedroom before. I think I only read a few Fear Street books as a teen, I know I read a few but not that many. I've read Silent Night so in December that'll be a re-read for me though it's been over a decade...(feeling old lol)

I definitely plan on getting the 2nd and 3rd cheerleaders books but don't have them yet.

June has flown by. I guess the whole year has but June really did. I read almost all of these when I was 12-15? But I don’t remember a thing about any of them. I remembered Nikki in the Halloween party was deaf..Reba in Silent Night was rich..that’s all I can think of right now 😪

Ok reoccurring characters- Deena. She and Jade are the main characters in Wrong Number. Deena seems to be friends with everyone, she’s mentioned in several books.
We also learn Suki’s mom is a realtor and sold Lea’s family their house. I love how she handled the secret room. Lol, you failed Mom Thompson 😝

I finished this book. I gave it 3.5 stars. (view spoiler)[ for actually having a ghost, possession, and a ghost killing. (hide spoiler)] i saw in some reviews that they didn't like the ending but it didn't bother me. and yay! Lea actually lives on Fear Street.

I just finished The First Evil. (May's Read) Yeah, I know, I'm way behind! I gave it a 3-star rating, but preteen me would have given it a 5 star for sure. I'm really over the girl hate and some other tropes in Stine's books. He also seems to poke fun at characters weight...but maybe that is a teenage thing?? Still it feels weird coming from a grown man writing about teen girls like that. I know these books are outdated, but it's an eye opener seeing how much younger me over looked things like the girl hate, body shaming...etc.

Also, I'm getting annoyed by all the cheesy cliffhangers. Nostalgia does win and I still have a fondness for his books regardless of the many flaws.

I'm sorry I'm not being very active here. I've actually stopped doing other book clubs, but I still want to continue on with this one, even if I'm behind in my reading. So I hope you don't mind if I stick around and still give out suggestions for books (when it's my turn again!) This is really fun going down memory lane and if we have to, we can branch out to R L Stine's other cheesy teen books. (He has many so this club could go on for years haha)

The end of chapter 13, yesssss, glow evil tiger glowwww. I don't get why the ghost had to wait for the door to be opened to leave though...was it a ghost proofed door? I had thought even if she had forgotten to close the door it'd be fine because Catherine said she couldn't leave which I didn't think had to do with the door because if she could leave she could just float through it.

I loved it! Creepy, not predictable (to me anyway) and a fun time, or creepy time.

Speaking of creepy my spouse has been bugging me to read a certain book (that does sound right up my alley) that he loves. And SECONDS after I finished this book he came bursting into the room and said "Have you read it yet?" or something like that (and I was thinking of, and still might, read it next).

I thought he must have been on twitter, because my twitter and goodreads are connected, and seen that I just finished a book, but nope, he hasn't been on twitter at all, he was making food and just has a creepy sense of timing lol!

His friend says he's always doing creepily timed things without even trying. lol

I know he's told me all about it but all I remember right now is paranormal romance, werewolves, queer characters, great characters among other things that have flown my mind....werewolves aren't normally my thing but I don't dislike them and everything else sounded great.

That seems oddly specific...

My husband reads on wattpad and stuff like that. I know he loves werewolves but apart from that i'm not sure. Our reading doesn't really overlap much, but the way he described Kiss of the Moon (and told me all about it...good thing my memory is full of holes lol) it sounded great to me and I will never hear the end of it if I don't read it, but that sounds so negative and I am excited to read it lol but he's been trying to get me to read it for a couple years now....oops. I need to just do it lol.

Personally I read many genres. Horror, Contemporary, PNR and Urban Fantasy probably being my favorites but i'll pick up other stuff too. I have too many interests, but at least i'll never get bored :) I'm more into vampires than werewolves though.

Mom reads some paranormal & supernatural but no vampires or werewolves. When I’m reading or listening, I can usually guess correctly if she’d like it or not. But yes, her Native American romance is extremely specific. Whatever floats your boat! I don’t usually read any kind of romance. As far as I am willing to go is like Sookie. I read a few of Betsy, the undead and unwed series. But they got too romancey.

I'm more of a romantic than my teenage self would admit unless it was vampires, i've always loved vampires...not sure what that says about me lol

Considering these books are still probably read by a lot of young people, it's not good to have body shamming. Body shamming/diet culture leads to eating disorders or bad body image. I just got the rest in as well. It took weeks for them to be shipped here. I about thought they got lost in the mail!! (I got the Silent Night collectors edition that has parts 1,2 & 3) None of the books that came to me were in great condition. I guess they are so old now; the chance of finding them in decent condition is slim. I'm a bit OCD about super beat up books, but oh well.
