R.L Stine Challenge!
I get what your saying Stephanie. I think I suffer from that too. When I was listening to Children of the Night, I was having a really rough time at work and I think that contributed to my strong dislike for that book.

Thanks so much Latasha, I'll PM you, I have a little something to post to you too.

Hi! My name is Renee. I like working on my tan and sending mixed signals. Oh! And I have frizzy brown hair. 🙋🏽♀️
I wonder how different these books would be if Bob had a daughter. He just has 1 son, is that right?

Chapter one and I'm cringing at how shallow the girls are so far, but that is Bob for you! I also wonder how his writing would be if he had daughters. "Dad! Stop spying on me and my friends to see how teen girls act! It's creepy!"

Why would she do that? Out of the fire into the frying pan, huh.... Why are all the boys in Stine's books so angry and mean? Why do they feel so entitled to the girls? Ugh!
Also Renee... I do not like you.

Some books you go into knowing they will have very questionable content (aka problematic stuff) and you can turn your brain off.
It is hard to turn your brain off when you realize these books were aimed at impressionable teenagers.

i bought Red Rain at a huge library book sale for 24. it's the audio cd's. i've got them al uploaded now. for whenever y'all are ready. i'm not in a hurry. How are you liking Beach Party Melanie?

13 out of 50 of my books have been R L Stine, what with this group and reading Goosebumps for a GBs buddy read. (Reading them all in order, though I did miss a few of them.)
It looks like this is the year of R L Stine because there are 7 more books for this group and so many more GBs.

After the complete disaster and frustration of listening to the traveling vampire show, I’ll be starting this today.

I'm sorry the traveling vampire show let you down Latasha. Good luck with Red Rain! I'm in the middle of the queer lit readathon but the last day is the 8th, so after that i'll pick up Red Rain.
Well you can take Bob out of the 90’s but you can’t take the 90’s out of Bob. We STILL have lots of sweaters, I think leggings or tights was mentioned. There’s a Dad joke... and more but I don’t want to say. I didn’t read what this one was about so I’m not sure what’s going to happen. If anyone wants the cd’s (audiobook) I don’t mind mailing them.

The Cheerleaders are really good compared to some of the others we’ve read.
I’m struggling with Red Rain. These kids are evil. There’s some adult stuff in here and it’s awkward. I think R.L. Stine= childhood, fear street. Not sexy scenes. No! Bob no! You can’t write like that lol!
But really, the story is ok.

You're not alone! I didn't like it at all, well, maybe there was 5..."
Yeah I’m not sure I’ll read the other ones either. It held my interest enough to finish so it wasn’t all bad but just not my favorite one so far.
