I'm so sorry guys :( I haven't started it yet but I do believe I read this as a teenager, it came out when I was 16. Of course i'll see when I read it if anything comes back to me or not.

Everyone has different opinions, so go ahead and give it a try if you want to! I gave it a 2 star. "It was ok" but then again, I think I was being too nice.

Spoiler about what Candy did and what they did to Candy. Pretty much spoils everything as I rant.
(view spoiler)[It is said that Candy cheated on her boyfriend. We never got proof of this, just heard the story being told. Cheating is not my cup of tea, and I personally think it is one of the worst things you can do (other than murder and child abuse....etc), but people are human and we make mistakes. Two wrongs don't make a right and I think slut-shaming Candy and the public humiliation they put her through was horrible and worse than what Candy may or may not have done. Yes, cheating bad, we know, but don't turn yourself into a mob and go after someone for revenge.

Then we can assume Candy got possessed and bit the guy's mouth, which is bad, of course, and assault. They couldn't turn her in because they did not want their "awesome secret night time activities" to be ruined so they decide to ruin Candy's life instead.

When the car went in the water, I just wanted them to all drown and the book (and series) be over. Ugh.

Candy might have been a cheater and she might have had anger issues or she was possessed (biting) but those guys ended up killing her because she had a fake amulet so they thought she must be a witch.

And what's with the first part of the book? Is Julie and her boyfriend actually dead, possessed or what? Julie should not have survived in the water. I don't care how much swimming she does! (Actually, I know nothing about having good swimming lungs, but still lol)

I have read 6 chapters so far. I definitely read this when I was a teen! I didn't read the old 90s fear street books growing up because I was born in 89, I was too young in the 90s. I read Goosebumps then but in the 2000s, as a teenager, I read some of the Fear Street books that came out then, this one being one of them. So it does have nostalgia for me though I can't remember what happens, it's just that "oh i've read this, I remember this as i'm reading it" feeling.

(view spoiler)[I get what Shark did to Candy was very awful. It is called out as mean though by Jamie and Nate so I don't feel like it's ment to be seen as ok so it doesn't bother me. I mean I hate Shark right now. At first, pre-answering machine, I felt a little bad for him because Candy cheated on him and obviously that's awful too though 2 wrongs don't make a right. But then the answering machine message :'( But Jamie and Nate do mention how it's mean, Jamie out loud, so i'm still enjoying the story. (hide spoiler)]

Of course i've only read 6 chapters so far so I still have a ways to go and I haven't read the spoilers above yet. But i'm enjoying it so far.

Chapter 8/9 (view spoiler)[It's just spiraling out of control at this point and no one is going to stop it. They are both hurting and both in the wrong in ways and neither of them can stop to think about the other one's feelings, just their own. (hide spoiler)]

I've read 13 chapters so far and right now i'm just thinking they are all acting very much like teenagers...which they are so I suppose I should quell my desire to roll my eyes at them. It's making me seriously wonder how I felt about it when I read it as a teenager because I can't remember that part, how I felt about it back then. And that bothers me.

Cool! The series is actually longer, but The 1st, 2nd & 3rd Evils are the original trilogy. The New Evil, The Evil Lives and The Awakening Evil are the others.

I'll fit it in whenever others want to go. I won't be getting The Third Evil until the 10th but i'm ready to go with The Second Evil whenever. I do have a buddy read of Needful Things starting the 1st but we've agreed to 50 pages a day, so I can read some other things during that as well. Just mentioning it because it'll probably slow me down, but not stop me. :)

Is it me or are these way better than the regular fear street books? I’m on page 96 & it’s crazy! But good.

It isn't just you! This series has always been my favorite out of the Fear Street books. I have heard people not liking them as much and some people loving them. Several podcasts have talked about them and it is interesting hearing everyone's thoughts, theories...etc.

I've started it and read the first 2 chapters so far. I can't remember a thing from the first book (my memory sucks). I think it's ok though. And i'm liking it so far, definitely starts out sad. I feel so bad for Corky.

I've read the first 5 chapters, and i'm liking it. I'm really liking how the girls seem to be coming together to support Corky, putting aside their differences and becoming friends.

I forgot how this one started. The first couple of chapters are very sad! I'm glad they didn't brush the first book off and have amnesia about it, kind of like how Reva had amnesia about becoming a better person. lol

I just finished. Omg this one!! I’m giving it 5 stars. When they make the fear st. Movie, they should sooooo use these books.

I'm glad you liked it so much, Tasha! I hope the Fear Street movie is good and aimed for the adults that would be nostalgic for it, so actually horror/scary...etc. I would love if the Cheerleaders was the plot of the movie.

Apparently, it is going to be an original story and it is now reported to be a trilogy. The main characters are reported to be two gay teens. 1 in present time and 1 in the past (so a past/present timeline) It does seem to be targeting teens, which makes sense, but I really hope it is an actual horror film.

The trilogy will reportedly follow two gay teenagers “trying to navigate their rocky relationship when they’re targeted by the crazy horrors of their small town, Shadyside,” the fictional Ohio burg where author R.L. Stine often staged his tales. Today, the actresses at the helm were revealed to be Disney Channel alum Kiana Madeira and Olivia Welch, who’s appeared on episodes of Agent Carter and Modern Family.

Per Collider, Madeira and Welch will each be playing two different characters, one in the mid-90s and one in the 1600s when, it’s noted, “gay women faced even greater adversity and repercussions.” The shifting timelines, fans of the series might recall, was a device often cleverly used by Stine. Who else remembers the Betrayal trilogy?

Leading the charge are two acclaimed indie talents in Honeymoon’s Leigh Janiak and prolific filmmaker Alex Ross Perry, who’s on the verge of releasing Her Smell, one of our favorite flicks from last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Janiak spearheaded a writers room for the films, one that may or may not have featured Stranger Things’ writer Kate Trefry. That’s some good talent right there.

I've finished! I liked it a lot. It was a lot better than I remembered. I think I will also give it a 5 star. What a wild ride!

Really glad everyone is having fun with this one. Last I heard the movie was gonna be a trilogy. I hadn’t heard about the 2 gay teens. I’m fine with that. I just hope the story is good!

I definitely enjoyed this one, even more than the first! I did not see that ending coming! I gave it a 4.25, I gave the first one a 3.5. Now i'm wondering how it all ends, the original trilogy anyway.
