R.L Stine Challenge!
I finished! I liked it. (view spoiler)Yea the characters do dumb things and it's Fear Street so it isn't perfect by any stretch. (view spoiler) but I enjoyed it. Gave it 4 stars.
Spoiler about Ross's past(view spoiler)
I'm glad you all enjoyed it. I know for some 3 is bad, but not for me. A 2 or 1 is bad. haha
3 for me can depend. It can mean anywhere from "I didn't care for this but it isn't awful" if it's a rounded up 2.5 or "it was ok/I liked it" if it's a 3/3.25. 3 and up I consider good, below 3 not good (all to varying degrees) but of course without half stars that makes 3 a bit iffy. 2 means I didn't like most of it but something was good about it, however small or it just wasn't my cup of tea. 1 is awful.Ratings can differ in what they mean so much from person to person.
Do any of you like listening to podcasts? There is one called Teen Creeps and they cover cheesy teen horror from the 80s and 90s, with a few other types of books thrown in. They have covered several we've read and are going to be reading! It is a great podcast if you don't mind listening to two friends chat about books and sometimes going off into random "off topic" stories, which are usually hilarious. It feels like chatting with friends.https://www.teencreepspod.com/
That's their website, but their podcast is also on Itunes and podcast apps (Like Castbox, the app I use.)
Stephanie, they even covered My Sweet Audrina! :D
Oh sweet! I've been trying to get into podcasts. Well i've been listening to Books in the Freezer every now and then but I don't listen nearly that often. I'm hopelessly behind though I do enjoy it when I listen. I need to work on fixing that, the being behind part. I found them on podbean, thanks! I'll have to get to work on listening to some podcasts! :D
You're welcome! I really like Teen Creeps. I also want to make it more of a habit to listen to podcasts.I listen to some of Books in the Freezer as well! I tend to only listen to them when they are on books I've read. I hate being spoiled! haha
If you guys have any other good podcasts (bookish or otherwise), I'm curious to know what you like!
There’s also I know what you did on fear street. I’ve listened to a few teen creeps and they are hilarious!
Happy Belated Birthday Stephanie! Awwww to be 30 again. I’ll be 50 in April definitely not looking forward to that. I usually say I’m 29 and then my husband will say yeah with 20 years experience. LOL

We made this open for all R L Stine books, so I was thinking kind of a bummer that we did not do one Goosebump book! lol I know those read "younger" than Fear Street, but I love reading books meant for all ages. They are comfort reads, especially the nostalgic ones.Does anyone want to throw in a couple bonus Goosebump books in the upcoming months? (view spoiler)
I already read 2 Goosebumps books a month with a Goosebumps book club. It's on youtube (and twitter). The original video explaining it is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vKPN...
They make a discussion video for each book and we just read Let's Get Invisible! and the next book (discussion on February 28th) is Return of the Mummy. They normally do sequels right after the first book but missed the fact that The Curse of the Mummy had one (was read in January) and otherwise are just reading them in order.
That sounds fun! I really need to find the other books! They are never at the used bookstore and when they are, it is usually just one or two badly beat up copies, or ones I already own. Same goes for other R L Stine books (Fear Street & Point Horror)I have The Curse of the Mummy and Return of the Mummy. I'll have to read them both real quick before the 28th!
It's definitely fun and the more the merrier! I got my Goosebumps books from Amazon marketplace, of course what is available there just depends but all the ones i've gotten have been in decent condition. At least in one piece and readable. They do the discussions on the 15th and last day of the month, February just happens to be short. :)
Cool. I will try to get the books they are doing and join in from time to time. It all depends on money and availability of the book, of course. Thanks for sharing the info!

I finally finished The New Boy. It was ok, I thought it might be a bit more spectacular since it was the book to get me started. I was kinda surprised that the girls died. Ross is waving his red flag high & proud. Janie needs to change her locks- just as a precaution and get a big mean dog. And a gun. And dear lord woman! Don’t go out with him!

Stephanie, speaking of Goosebumps (and for anyone else interested) I just found another Podcast called Goosebumps: Welcome to DeadCast and they've covered all the original books so far (and corresponding episodes for the books that had them.)
OtakuAThon has started for me until the 4th, so I am going to be binge reading and watching anime. No need to wait for me if you don't want to. I should be able to start this book on the 5 or 6th, depending on how I feel.
I now can't start until the 8th or 9th because we had to pause our Scribd subscription until payday.
What if we just said starting on the 15th-ish? That way we can (hopefully) be sure everyone's copies have arrived? I'm kindling it so I'll be all set.
i went to the bookstore today and found the new fear street books. i bought them both. these things are way bigger than the ones we are reading! Drop Dead Gorgeous 324 pages and You May Now Kill the Bride 344
Are the new fear street books still aimed at the same age group? My Scribd subscription is active again, so I can start whenever everyone is ready!
I don’t think this book was wrote by R.L. Stine. It’s so different from the earlier books. (view spoiler)
I will start today as well. That man pushes out books like a beast, surely some are co-written or ghostwritten. I think it was proved or RL said that he did have ghostwriters for some of the spin-off Goosebumps series. The Ghosts of Fear Street were ghostwritten.
I found this list of all his books and authors involved. It list him as the true author of Moonlight Secrets. I don't know if the list is 100% updated with his most recent books.

I finished it and I feel meh about it. It was boring and the characters were cruel, bullying and public humiliation is not something I care to read about, plus a lot of slut shaming.I don't think I will be reading any of his newer stuff. His older cheesy teen horror is okay for me because it has a nostalgic factor. This one was just bad with no nostalgia there to blind me. It really does sound different from RL's writing and I'm not sure if that is just because it is more modern or something else.

And no, personally I'm not into blind dates or late night walks in the woods.
