If he wanted to teach her responsibility or something, maybe he should have made (not sure forcing anyone is a great idea, though) her volunteer someone or do an internship, though I highly doubt Reva's attitude would be any better if she was working for free. I still think it would be good for her to see how other people live, but unless she took the volunteer job seriously and turned over a new leaf, I would not wish her on some unsuspecting person!

Neither would I unless she turned over a new leaf like I said. Imagine someone writes an awesome Silent Night fanfiction, not a "horror, I'm going to kill you again..." but something that really puts Reva through character development (what she went through in book 1, but R L decided to take away!) This is an old fandom, so it will never happen. Haha but oh well, after book 3, I am done with Reva!

I don't think Reva can ever change; she is not a good person at all if she thinks it is fun or that it is just a game to do what she does to Pam, taking people's boyfriends, being mean to Grace and the maid.

Who else thinks Grace has multiple personality disorder? That is the vibe I'm getting. What is with Willow? Her reactions to Reva taking the scarf idea as her own is over the top. Sure, it would make someone angry, but not in a "revenge" way and surely not in a "she needs to die" way.

Also, why don't Pam and Willow just speak up? They have proof that they made the scarfs. I know they are scared Reva's daddy will not sell their scarves in his store.

I feel sorry for Grace, whether she has multiple personalities or Rory is really after her, Reva is treating her like scum. I do kind of think Grace might be the killer, though I hope not because I don't like the thing where they always make the mentally unstable person be the bad guy. If anything Grace might be the one hurting herself, her "Rory" personality.

Maybe it is a vibe only I'm picking up. I might be way off!

What is with Daniel? I mean... I know he is angry at Reva, but still... R L Stine really likes to throw in so many people who could be the bad guy. So far we've got: Grace, Daniel, Willow, Liza (the girlfriend of Grant), even Pam!

Finished. Finally! Goodbye Reva!!

Hovers around 3 and 3.5 maybe. The ending makes it seem like our Reva is finally going to change for the better, but we all know that will never happen. Such a mess this trilogy, but I guess these sort of books are guilty pleasure reads, only I don't use that term anymore. I'm not guilty for liking them, they are more comfort/nostalgic reads.

Willow...yea...I understand what Reva did would make anyone angry but murderous? Like actually murderous? Willow frightens me. Reva annoys me but Willow frightens the crap outta me. Big differrence.

i like the cover for this one. it reminds me of V.C, Andrews. i never read her but she always had such intense covers. or so it seemed to me way back when.

I'll try and read it whenever others want to. I read V.C. Andrews for the first time last year. I read My Sweet Audrina and Heaven, loved both of them! Though I liked Heaven a bit more. I need to get the rest of the Heaven series to continue. I have Flowers in the Attic but haven't read it yet.

Prologue & Chapter 1
TW: Fire is mentioned, so is spiders

(view spoiler)[After the fire in the prologue and Nora is being questioned by the police... is that really how it used to be in the 1900s? Were they that quick to throw someone in an insane asylum?

"You've told the same story many times and that can't be true so you must be insane!" Also, I hated the way the investigators treated her.

Chapter 1. So did they let mothers keep their babies until they were "Old enough?" If they thought she was so insane, wouldn't they want to get the baby away from her right away and given to another family/wet nurse?

I don't think this book is going to be a great rep of people with mental health disorders, but if a family deemed their child (Nancy) bad enough to put her in an insane asylum, would the workers in the asylum let that child be alone with a newborn?

I don't have a phobia of spiders, just don't like them suddenly on me, but that lady who thought they were all over her body is a visual I didn't need. Of course, there also had to be the person who banged their head on a wall. Insane Asylum cliches.

I want you to know that I did a little more research and this book (and following series) is supposed to come after The Fear Street Saga Trilogy (The Betrayal, The Secret, The Burning) and someone said based on how The Burning ends, The New Fear and the following series can't possibly be canon. (The person even claimed The New Fear series is ghost-written.)

Take that how you want it. I don't mind continuing to read The New Fear, but it is kind of bothering me we're missing some back-story and that The New Fear might be "fanfiction" hahaha

Edit: The reason I looked it up is that I've read these before and I could remember more stuff that The New Fear seemed to "skip" so it clicked in my brain that this series and the other one was connected.

So yeah, it is recommended you read the first trilogy first (obviously lol), but if you are a purest for canon, The New Fear might bother you as not being "possible" as canon based on how The Burning ends. (Sorry if that sounded confusing.)

The trilogy is basically what the prologue of The New Fear glosses over and more of Nora & Daniel Fear's back-story (I think), so TW: Fire

oh ok. i knew the 2 were connected but i didn't know it that it was conflicting. yes, that would bother me bad! i reread the Betrayal but i don't think i reread the other 2.

ok. i don't remember how the original trilogy ended but i know i LOVED them when i was a teen. so this one didn't bother me. i read this in one sitting so i'm going to go with 4 stars. i liked most of the story but whoa Nicholas slow down a minute! He takes the family name without knowing anything about the Fears. also, (view spoiler)[ he sure takes him time remembering he's promised Rosalyn. (hide spoiler)] i think Nicholas is a good character. He certainly acts his age. i did pick up on the Mayfair witches influence but it didn't bother me. Thanks Ashley for picking this one.

I loved the Fear Street Saga when I was a teenager so I thought this book would be interesting. I enjoyed it, although some parts were a little off even for Fear Street.

I need to reread the original saga. I glad you also liked it Latasha, sorry you didn't Stephanie I can easily see some of your issues, and Leigha the trilogy was some of my favorite Fear Street books so I hope you enjoy them.
