I definitely agree with you.

I'm reading Krampus at the moment but once I finish Krampus i'll read Silent Night 3

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments i would think Reva would run daddy out of business. she insults and ignores everyone! she better think ahead. that Miata will need upgrading soon and it won't happen without those stores! think Reva think!

message 603: by Alice (new)

Alice If he wanted to teach her responsibility or something, maybe he should have made (not sure forcing anyone is a great idea, though) her volunteer someone or do an internship, though I highly doubt Reva's attitude would be any better if she was working for free. I still think it would be good for her to see how other people live, but unless she took the volunteer job seriously and turned over a new leaf, I would not wish her on some unsuspecting person!

I'll be starting #3 soon. I've been on a manga reading kick! lol

Alice Latasha wrote: "Good lord no! I wouldn’t put her off on anyone ever!"

Neither would I unless she turned over a new leaf like I said. Imagine someone writes an awesome Silent Night fanfiction, not a "horror, I'm going to kill you again..." but something that really puts Reva through character development (what she went through in book 1, but R L decided to take away!) This is an old fandom, so it will never happen. Haha but oh well, after book 3, I am done with Reva!

SN#3 Chapter 1

The Wrong Number
Runaway

Melanie | 1656 comments Me too Leigh, I've only got April, May, June and Oct, but I'll be scouring the second hand sights here for the others.

message 609: by Alice (last edited Dec 19, 2018 04:33PM) (new)

Alice Heads up, guys. One Evil Summer looks like another rare one. Right now there are prices on Amazon for around $4 and shipping, but there are listings for $70-$100+

message 610: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments I got them all from Amazon but One Evil Summer is one I got right away because I saw it's a rare one and I got lucky. I finished getting them all this month.

message 611: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (bookwormahn) I need to start looking. I only have a few of them.

Thank you so much tosh, that's very generous but you've more than spoilt me this year, if no-one wants it I'll take one but reimburse you.

Alice Finished. Finally! Goodbye Reva!!

Hovers around 3 and 3.5 maybe. The ending makes it seem like our Reva is finally going to change for the better, but we all know that will never happen. Such a mess this trilogy, but I guess these sort of books are guilty pleasure reads, only I don't use that term anymore. I'm not guilty for liking them, they are more comfort/nostalgic reads.

message 617: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments Let me tell you a lil secret Melanie lol. I already had several of the books on your wishlist! And I would’ve sent a new fear as well but you made it seem like you had it! Lol. That’s why I ask here, trying to be all sneaky like!

Ha! thanks Tosh, I just opened Double Date (Fear Street, #23) by R.L. Stine and The Thrill Club (Fear Street, #24) by R.L. Stine this morning, neither of which I've read so THANK YOU :) :) :)

Ashley (bookwormahn) Unfortunately she escapes yet again. Definitely ready for a no more Reva party!

message 627: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments i changed the name of the challenge and added the book we'll be reading for January. i can start anytime. January (so far) isn't going to be a busy reading month. i have this one and Hororstor and that's it so far.

message 628: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments i like the cover for this one. it reminds me of V.C, Andrews. i never read her but she always had such intense covers. or so it seemed to me way back when.

message 629: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments I'll try and read it whenever others want to. I read V.C. Andrews for the first time last year. I read My Sweet Audrina and Heaven, loved both of them! Though I liked Heaven a bit more. I need to get the rest of the Heaven series to continue. I have Flowers in the Attic but haven't read it yet.

message 630: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (bookwormahn) I'm ready at any time.

message 631: by Alice (new)

Alice I am also ready whenever the group says "go!"

message 632: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments I'm going to allow myself to read multiple books at once this year (within reason) so i'm ready to go whenever as well (i'll leave a "slot" open so to speak for it). So i'll be ready to go whenever (at most it'll just mean I read it slower than usual)

Alice Prologue & Chapter 1
TW: Fire is mentioned, so is spiders

(view spoiler)

message 638: by Alice (last edited Jan 05, 2019 01:54PM) (new)

Alice I want you to know that I did a little more research and this book (and following series) is supposed to come after The Fear Street Saga Trilogy (The Betrayal, The Secret, The Burning) and someone said based on how The Burning ends, The New Fear and the following series can't possibly be canon. (The person even claimed The New Fear series is ghost-written.)

Take that how you want it. I don't mind continuing to read The New Fear, but it is kind of bothering me we're missing some back-story and that The New Fear might be "fanfiction" hahaha

Edit: The reason I looked it up is that I've read these before and I could remember more stuff that The New Fear seemed to "skip" so it clicked in my brain that this series and the other one was connected.

So yeah, it is recommended you read the first trilogy first (obviously lol), but if you are a purest for canon, The New Fear might bother you as not being "possible" as canon based on how The Burning ends. (Sorry if that sounded confusing.)

The trilogy is basically what the prologue of The New Fear glosses over and more of Nora & Daniel Fear's back-story (I think), so TW: Fire

The Betrayal (The Fear Street Saga, #1) by R.L. Stine
The Secret (The Fear Street Saga Trilogy, #2) by R.L. Stine
The Burning (The Fear Street Saga Trilogy, #3) by R.L. Stine

message 639: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments oh ok. i knew the 2 were connected but i didn't know it that it was conflicting. yes, that would bother me bad! i reread the Betrayal but i don't think i reread the other 2.

message 640: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments ok. i don't remember how the original trilogy ended but i know i LOVED them when i was a teen. so this one didn't bother me. i read this in one sitting so i'm going to go with 4 stars. i liked most of the story but whoa Nicholas slow down a minute! He takes the family name without knowing anything about the Fears. also, (view spoiler) i think Nicholas is a good character. He certainly acts his age. i did pick up on the Mayfair witches influence but it didn't bother me. Thanks Ashley for picking this one.

message 641: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments and! i think the amulet on the cover looks more like it's described. on The Betrayal cover, it's pretty but i don't think it looks the way it's described.

message 642: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments I should be starting A New Fear later tonight. I never read the other trilogy, so at least I won't have any "this isn't canon" feelings or anything like that coloring it for me I guess.

message 643: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments I did start it but i've only read the prologue and Ch 1 so far. Interesting, hopefully i'll read a lot tomorrow.

message 644: by Tyler (last edited Jan 07, 2019 01:47PM) (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments Yea, I agree with your spoiler for the prologue & ch 1 Leigha. I feel this book is not well written, cliches about insane aslyums and unbelievable at times. And i've only read the first 3 chapters.

message 645: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments Well I finished it. Sorry I really didn't care for it. Glad you enjoyed it though Latasha.

message 646: by Alice (new)

Alice I'm opting out of this one until I read the first trilogy. I don't like reading things out of order. :)

message 647: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments Aww sorry Stephanie! That’s ok Leigha.

message 648: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (bookwormahn) I loved the Fear Street Saga when I was a teenager so I thought this book would be interesting. I enjoyed it, although some parts were a little off even for Fear Street.

message 649: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (bookwormahn) I need to reread the original saga. I glad you also liked it Latasha, sorry you didn't Stephanie I can easily see some of your issues, and Leigha the trilogy was some of my favorite Fear Street books so I hope you enjoy them.

message 650: by Tyler (new)
