Chantel Christian | 10 comments Finishing up One Piece, Volume 01: Romance Dawn
I like it, but I enjoyed Naruto, Vol. 01: The Tests of the Ninja a lot more. But it was fun to watch the first episode and see how it plays out.

Becky | 3 comments This is a good enough reason for me to finally read Season 8 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I recommend for those claiming not to like comics/graphic novels to find a graphic novel related to a TV show or lit novel you actually do like. A Game of Thrones (ASOIAF #1) was done as a fantastic four-part graphic series (pub. Bantam Books). Buffy (pub. Dark Horse) continued in graphic format after the TV show's finale. Sin City (pub. Dark Horse) is a favorite of many. For fans of the Nickelodeon series, Avatar the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra also have corresponding graphic novels (also pub. Dark Horse). If you've wondered what happened after your show ended, these are great options - most of them are written by the original author/creator.

Karen Ireland (book-vixen) For this Task I read Bobby Sands Freedom Fighter by Gerry Hunt by Gerry Hunt

Ann (annshow) The Kitchen I read Ollie Masters' The Kitchen (Vertigo). It's about mob wives in the seventies taking over for their husbands in jail. Interesting

Have you started yet Beth? I've got 3 volumes and plan on reading one for this prompt too. And yes, I'm a librarian (but don't work in a public library).

Julia | 165 comments Today I read the delightful, sweet, gorgeous The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang. Then I found out it fit this challenge!

(It's published by First second Books.)

message 116: by Sheri (new)

Sheri | 75 comments I read Mech Cadet Yu Vol. 1 by BOOM! Studios. I really liked it, it's sort of Iron Giant meets Pacific Rim. I've already started on Vol2.

message 117: by Doris (new)

Doris (webgeekstress) I've already got two for this task, Zindan: The Last Ansaars and Preparedness 101: A Zombie Pandemic, but I just completed The Prince and the Dressmaker, which is a sweet fairy tale.

Amber (amberpic) | 31 comments I read a comic written, illustrated, and self-published by one of my good friends (so it also works for #4, and I’m posting the same comment I did there): OilCan Drive by Sean Tiffany. The comic is a “rock and roll love story” in a sci-fi setting.

I’m not really a comic books person, but I think it has a good story and I enjoy seeing aspects of my friend - his personality, passions, and influences - in the work.

The book is not listed on the Goodreads site, but if anyone who reads this is interested, the website is www.oilcandrive.com. There is much more content on the web, including an EP from the band.

As a side note, Sean is one of the kindest people I know. He recently spent 2 hours with my 9 year old son, showing him his home studio, giving my son advice and tips on his own comics, and offering to help him publish a book when he was ready. And he sent him home with a bunch of his work and promotional materials. So a genuinely good guy to support (thus, my long promotional post).

Denise | 27 comments I read More Peanuts which counts for this category and the category of written & illustrated by the same person.

message 120: by Emily (new)

Emily | 38 comments I read the graphic novel Snow White: A Graphic Novel by Matt Phelan. It super quick and good!

message 121: by Yrinsyde (new)

Yrinsyde | 21 comments I recently finished Moomin Vol5 - 3 tales in comic form about the Moomintrolls invented by Tove Jannson. This vol is one of a series of comics written for adults about the Moomins. It was sweet and funny! I thought this would fit for illustrated and written by the same person but it doesn't - the stories are by her husband (I presume).

message 122: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracyisreading) I read Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson with my 8 year old daughter, who was looking over my shoulder and couldn't resist the pictures. Oh how I loved this book! so freaking cute. I am officially hooked on graphic novels.

Tabitha (ellornaslibrary) Robin wrote: "I'll be reading Lumberjanes #1. I found it on Amazon's Prime Reading for free."

This was my read too, and I was so glad to discover it was free on Prime Reading since I wasn't sure how I'd get my hands on it otherwise. It was such a pleasant, interesting, and adorable read too. I definitely liked it a lot.
