SOLVED. Children's/middle grade fantasy book about an island. [s]

I read this book in like the 4th grade in 2009. It was about this kid who is on this weird island with an old witch person I think and they have to do all these menial tasks for the witch person so that they can go home I think?? It was such a strange yet interesting book. There was a map of the island in the book and it was illustrated showing where all the important places were.
It's been such a long time since I read it, but I just remembered it suddenly and I need to know!
