How is Your Year in Books looking?
Wow, Jason and Karin. I feel ashamed, lol.59 books (a record for me, lol)
20,098 pages (both of you read more than double, yikes).
3.6 average rating (funny because I see myself as a hard rater)

You obviously make better selections for your time and I can read very quickly at times. Plus lots of waiting room time.

I appreciate you trying to make me feel better, lol, but seriously, I am astounded by you, and frankly anyone reading over 100 books.

I come from a family rife with prolific readers, what can I say? Blame/attribute it to my parents and grandparents.
Jason wrote: "I listen to audio books at work all day 5 days a week."I want your job! Well, except for the fact that I can't really do audio (terrible auditory learner . . .).
Jason wrote: "anita, I'm a mail carrier."Ahhh, that's awesome!! I can see how the books probably make that job a lot more enjoyable for you.
I'm a huge baseball fan, so all I do during my drive time is listen to the MLB radio network on XM radio.
Anita wrote: "I'm a huge baseball fan, so all I do during my drive time is listen to the MLB radio network on XM radio.."Wow, a radio station devoted totally to baseball. I guess I should have figured out that existed given TV channels devoted to only one sport. It's also hard to read while watching games :). What's your favourite team? Not that I'm a baseball fan, but if I feel a need to root between two teams I know nothing about, I will root for a friend's team. This year, though, I was rooting for Texas in the World Series after the hurricane wreaked so much disaster in Houston.
OK, some of you know that I'm not just an avid reader but a singer. So I can't imagine audiobooks while I drive, because I'm too busy with my delightful diverse Radio selections, speaking of Sirius XM. Plus I work two minutes from my house, and spend a lot of time shuttling kids around. I didn't even know there was an MLB station, don't tell that to my kids, but I listen to seriously Sinatra, the blend, Broadway, love, coffeehouse, real jazz, Soul town, and 70s on seven, oh and don't forget the Bridge, which is 70's folk rock. Plus the love channel turns into Holly at this time, and Soul town turns into Holiday Soul, so with 106.7, in this season it's all about the Carols.
Like Anita, I don't do audio, so I'm impressed by all your results!I have a meagre 39 books (probably going to go up at least two in the next two weeks though) and 15,846 pages, for an average of 417 pages. Average rating of 3.9, which is ridiculous, but when I look back I did reread a lot of Harry Potter this year so there are a bunch of 5 stars flying around because of that.
Amy wrote: "OK, some of you know that I'm not just an avid reader but a singer. All those channels are on my favorites list, though I sometimes need some classical, or maybe some Margaritaville...
I have been using audio more, but not when I drive- I’m afraid it might put me to sleep!
162 books48578 pages
Average length 300
Average rating 4.0 - it’s never been this high before, but then I was a bit shocked by the number of 5 star reads I had on the list

Average length 314 pages

Longest book 625 pages

Amy wrote: "OK, some of you know that I'm not just an avid reader but a singer. However, I can't sing in the car unless I'm alone in it as my teens are not keen on having me sing along because I don't do it Just Like the Artist on the recording (--they have been that way since the ripe old age of 2. NOT because I can't carry a tune.)
That said, I do have times when I listen to audiobooks as I make time to sing in the evenings because it helps me unwind, especially if I'm doing a reading challenge or if we take a (rare) roadtrip. My husband just watches TV downstairs because he doesn't always share my musical tastes.

I listen to music as well, just not as much as I listen to books. I like classical solo piano and the 1920s to 1970s. Then a little grunge rock. Jack White is amazing. But books....that's heavenly.

My shortest book was Perrault's Fairy Tales at 90 pages and my longest was A Fine Balance at 832.

My highest Goodreads rated was The Hate U Give.
I listened to 57 audiobooks while walking.
In October I fell behind in my review writing and decided to take the rest of the year off. I'm going to start again in January and I'm looking forward to the new PBT challenges.

LOL! I hadn't noticed that, but I was going to comment on the 4.0 average rating! Wow!
annapi wrote: " Olivermagnus wrote: "I had my personal best in 2018..."LOL are you a time traveler?"
I guess I'm laser focused on the future. I changed it now but I can't see how I can beat this record in 2018. Cindy, I read a lot of crap this year, notably The Nuclear Platypus Biscuit Bible which actually wasn't my lowest rated book.

Impressive. It is seldom I meet people who can read so prolifically. Congrats!

Thanks for posting this, I went to check it out. I read 50 books - 17,414 pages.
I found it interesting to use the link to the previous year where I also read 50 books - 16,843 pages.
I seemed to really enjoy my reading this year since I rated the books with an average of 4.1 but that's probably because I read all your reviews and pick the best of the best!
Barbara wrote: "I seemed to really enjoy my reading this year since I rated the books with an average of 4.1 but that's probably because I read all your reviews and pick the best of the best! ..."I think this year my average was a little higher. I also depend on other people's ratings and reviews.

This December has clearly slammed me, and I haven't yet been able to post my 2017 roundup - that I look forward to all year long. I am using part of today to catch up on correspondence, as well as to finish my 100th book. My 101st is going to be the Rules of Magic, and after I finish that, I will post my top ten for the year. I can say its been a great year in books for me, and I have about 15-20 top picks to choose from for my Top Ten. Although Goodreads puts me at 3.8 for rating, which shows I've also had a lot of threes, and a lot of bad reviews as well. I finished a ton of PBT challenges, pretty much all of them. Read at least one book for the tag, read about 10 owned books, 5 giveaway books, and about 10 book club books - but we will see as the final roundup emerges. Not sure how I feel about Listopia winning, although I may have even rated that one highly. NFL would have been hard for me, but I think its a challenge I would have appreciated. I'm not sure I was rating it highly, but I sure expected it to win, and in that, got excited about my planning. I think however, Listopia allows me to look at a collection of like 30-40 books sitting on my TBR and clear it out. It may be somewhat uninteresting to most of you, but there is a Listopia list for books set in Tudor England. I may do more than one list of 6, but that one would be a help. Plus - Linda loves the Tudor period too, so its an easy match in January. Or I find something set in New York. Or I look to our joint lists that are pretty much identical. Finding something for me to read that's a match with Linda, is about as easy as breathing these days. She is on my book twin short list. And probably the closest match, though others also come close. My eyes are also on Kelly for that. Often Jolene as well. Maybe I find a second "list" that feels a little more fun and unusual. I've got some days to think about it and come up with a doozy!

More importantly, I also track various things like source and format.
I read about 25% new books, 25% from library or other free resources and 50% from my TBR!!!! Woo hoo!!
Also this year, I read in multiple formats a lot more - meaning I would often get a library book out when I had the audio or audio from library if I had the kindle book. I listened to less audio than in years past (work from home more) and read more DTB than last year.
They've taken away the link again. How do I get back to that nice summary page? Does anyone know? Thanks!I've done my own stats and summaries on my own thread, but the GR page has some different things in it.

So far I have finished 140 books and read 50,390 pages. I have had a very good reading year selection-wise (and not playing as many games with assigned books) so my rating average is a hefty 3.4, which is higher than normal.
