Thanks, Terry! I don't think that's it. :(
Funny enough I googled what I could remember from the plot and I did get a stephen king story, not the one you suggested though, but I don't think that was it...

Funn..."
I figured it was a long shot. It is funny also that your description kinda fits an episode of Rod Serling's Night Gallery TV show that I can remember. Don't know which episode, but I remember images in a painting being the main plot line. I'm sure that's not it either, though.

That's what I got when I googled the plot.. but I don't think that was it lol. Although damn, it sounds similar after reading the wiki entry. But something feels missing in the synopsis... IDK. Maybe I'm just going crazy lol.

lmao im sorry to anyone reading this, i'm not trying to be difficult but this is driving me nuts.

the title is so obvious you'll laugh!

Nice! Glad you figured it out because I was going to be no help getting to that, lol.

I knew it was a older story and I knew the exact story you were talking about but I couldn't think of the name of it. glad you remembered.

Anyway, I don't remember much about the story, other than it scared me. The basic plot points I can remember include a man staying in a tower (or an attic?) in a creepy room that has a painting above his bed. It might have been his childhood home?
Ring any bells? I do not think it's a contemporary piece...
