Brenda wrote: "Congratulations Nicola!! Good job :) If you decide on another 12, do your post and I'll link you to a Part 2 :)"Will do! I do already have some that I have read in each category, but I've just looked at my unit readings and I think they will have to become bed time reading for a while!
Finished my 4th last month, male author ... The Rosie Project 5★ Loved it!
Well done Brenda! I really need to get into my challenge books!

Welcome Jazzy :) You're linked! I can see that this one will definitely be a "challenge" for you with what you said above! Good luck :)
Just finished one from my favourite genre section (historical):The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club by Sophie Green
2 out of 5. Hate's a strong word, but I'm going close to saying I hated it. My review is here
Deborah wrote: "Well done Ace! Two Tim Wintons in there I see - im looking forward to the full review of Shepherds hut! Just finished that one myself."Thanks Deborah, I am still a bit hungover from how good this book was, but haven't written a review yet.

Yes Jazzy, as he lived in Australia for 10 years prior to his death. And that's not a genre ;) lol!! Perhaps contemporary might fit you there??

That's a shame Lee - I loved it. We're certainly all different in our reading tastes :)

I'm not sure what contemporary means, but I usually don't like 'new' books. I can't be pigeon-holed. It's like when someone asks what's my favourite colour - don't be silly! I can't pick just one.
I'm just struggling to find any second hand books, ebooks, library books, etc by Australian authors at all. My library has suffered severe cuts due to austerity and sold their old stock and new stock is extremely limited.
Thank goodness I already had Nevil Shute in the house.
Literature? I think Literature = Good books. That's also the section where I pick up most of the ones I buy and bring home from the charity shop.
Jazzy, have you looked at other libraries that allow you to join online an use their online apps to borrow ebooks? There are several in Sydney that I know of that don't require you to be a local to be an online member. Check out the ones that have BorrowBox, because I have noticed that BorrowBox seems to have more Aussie authors in their catalogue.
It might be harder for Jazzy, Kerri as she's a UK resident. I don't know how the libraries operate over there ;)
I usually go to the library every Friday for my guitar class, we had a performance there last Friday and there was a new sign I never saw before - like a tall flag - saying if we register we can read e-books from there, this has never happened before. When I go to my class this Friday I'll sign up for it and see what's available. I would have signed up at the time but had to hurry home so my son could go out with his carer.
Most of the libraries here have online books to borrow Jazzy, both e books and audio books. You borrow through an App that you download to your iPad/tablet/phone. I am a huge fan. I am a member of 3 libraries and between them have 7 different online accounts/apps I can borrow from. The libraries I belong to seem to buy as many online books as they do paper based books nowadays.

We have picketed and petitioned, marched and protested in the streets, but to no avail. Not only the libraries, but the swimming baths were all closed, and there was also a 100% cut to funding for the arts.
The remaining libraries have sold a lot of their stock to make ends meet, leaving the shelves sadly lacking.
That is terrible. I hope your local library goes ahead with the online service then. Fingers crossed for you

I will have to find out this weekend. I live in the middle of the city centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Which counts me as lucky because the smaller libraries have been closed or have severely reduced hours, opening just a few hours one or two days a week. This is the biggest library in the area, but now has also become our City Council, Citizens Advice Bureau, Adult Learning Centre, and a Cafe. All that shifting around has ended up with entire floors of books being sold off for profit. For the past 15 years, every time I saw a new book that I was interested in, it was not to be found in the library. Not only that, the classics were also gone. For instance, Anne of Green Gables - gone from all the libraries. When I asked why, I was told it was old and no one was likely to read it anymore, and yet there were enough of us wanting to read it for a book club.Hopefully they have a lot of digital books to choose from!
After finishing my easy level I've had a look at the other books I've read and have planned to read and have discovered I've got enough to do another easy round! These are the ones I've already done and I'll dig around and put the rest up soon...

I've had a great time with Level One of this challenge. There were no 1 or 2 star ratings, and the 5 star rated book by Kate Forsyth, Beauty in Thorns had me fascinated by a period of art I'd not explored before.I'd like to attempt the next level but have a few books by non-Aussie authors waiting patiently for my attention. Wish me luck :)
