I'm trying to remember what this mass-market YA novel was -- it would have come out in the '90s. It was about a family reunion I think? The girl was really excited to see her uncle who everyone loved. She had bad skin and she found some kind of face scrub in the shower with 'what looked like a little peach' on the tube. She used it and the next day had a big scab all around her face.

I think there was a cousin (or maybe the uncle's new gf?) who was really beautiful and they didn't get along. And then the tide came in, and these huge logs rolled across the beach and the cousin was in danger, and the main character saved her.

I think the main character's name might have been Shelby, but I'm less sure about that.
