SOLVED. Firefighter Romance (possible series). [s]

I read a series, possibly 2 or 3 books if I remember correctly, about a firefighter in a big city (I believe it was Boston but it could be NYC) who meets a nurse at the er. She wants nothing to do with him (I think someone in her family, possibly her dad, was a firefighter and died on duty and promised herself she would never date a firefighter). He eventually works her down and they date and eventually get married. At the end of the first book something dramatic happens and it ends with a cliff hanger. The second book starts with her coping and her husband's friends helping her out to readjust. I know more detail but don't want to spoil the whole series but if you need more info, let me know! Can you describe the scene where they meet? Is he seriously injured?

To answer both of your questions-

(view spoiler)[ I believe they met in the ER where she is a nurse. I think he was bringing in an injured firefighter and she was one of the nurses caring for him. He keeps pestering her to go out and she eventually caves. I want to say their first date is ice skating or a walk in Central Park and it was Winter time. I don't remember much else about the first book except he has one best friend (since they were young) that is also a firefighter but I can't remember anything else about him except they hang out with him a lot and I think he was jealous of their relationship and had a crush on the female lead (his best friend's girl) The couple ends up getting married and she becomes pregnant and still very much is worried about his job because her close relative (again, I think it was her dad) died on duty so she is terrified something will happen to him. At the end of the first book she is 9 months pregnant and working in the ER and she finds out medics are bringing an injured firefighter in- it's her husband and she goes into labor as she sees him being rolled in. At the very end of the book she has the baby and she discovers he died due to his injuries. In the second book all his firefighter friends help her and the baby (especially her late husband's best friend). she starts to fall for the best friend but they fight it because they are nervous what family and all their friends will think so they sneak around for a while but are eventually caught and then own up to it. They may have broke it off for a while but end up together in the end, and I believe they get married/engaged and have a child together. (hide spoiler)]

Could it be the Burning Lovesick series by Lyssa Layne?

The series starts with Love is a Fire, and the plot summary sounds pretty close to what you describe:
