Quiet Flows the Una
Quiet Flows the Una by Faruk Šehić

Great book about disturbing topic - The war. Author himself was soldier in Bosnian army and the novel is soaked with "ugly and dirty memories". That is what happens when fishermen become fighters.

Hansen's Children Hansen's Children by Ognjen Spahić

Tragic book by younger Montenegrin author set in Romania at the time of revolution and the fall of Ceausescu. It speaks about deep human isolation and leprosy is just one of the reasons.
Very tough reading!

We read this in our Literature group -- it would be good to know what you think after you read it. Happy reading.

HomeInMyShoes Your list has been very helpful for locating some options for Southern Europe. Specifically Moldova and Macedonia.
