ABANDONED. Short story : man sows playing field for country club and members start fighting over it . Man says this must be how God feels . Thanks in advance !

What did he sow, and why were the members fighting over whatever it was?
Was it in an anthology, a collection of short stories by a single person, a magazine?
When did you read it--6 months ago, last year, 10 years, 100 years?

He plowed the field up and sowed it in grass creating a manicured field for playing . The game was similar to croquet because it involved hitting the ball with something . The people in the club started making rules and regulations regarding use of the space. And actually one member ended up killing another with the instrument used to hit the ball . I️ read it probably within the last two years . Not sure if it was in the New Yorker or in a collection from one person . Thanks so much for giving this a try !!
