I read
. I changed my original pick for this prompt. I was going to read Everything Is Illuminated. I started it and I just wasn't that into it. I thought it was going to be more of an easy read but it was more like A Clockwork Orange. I'll read it at some point - I just wasn't in the mood at the time. What Happened was really good though. I've already read several other text only books this year so this prompt is an easy one for me to fill.
I picked The Princess Saves Herself in this One by Amanda Lovelace. The cover is just black with the title, as you can see here:
. This is fun! A really emotionally impactful book of small poems about girlhood, grief and love.

Great book and series!!

Hilarious, right? Can't wait for the movie this summer! I read this for the book about one of the 7 deadly sins. Also looking forward to reading the next two books in the series.
I wanted a short book for this category so I read
by Edith Wharton. It's almost a cheat since this is a Kindle ebook cover. Oh well.
I'm reading Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking for this one. Like Rachel, I was really picky about what I chose, and even now, I see there's a Penguin logo on my copy, but since that's not actually part of the cover design, I think it's fine. Pesky publishers!
I read X by Sue Grafton for this one. It was the kindle version, when I bought it and also when I put it in my plan the cover looked like this:
By the time I read it, the cover had been updated to this:
I hate when Amazon do that! I'm still counting it though, since the book I bought was text only on the cover.
I started Undermajordomo Minor for this but 30 pages in I was just not feeling it. The writing style wasn't my taste and the plot/characters just weren't pulling me in. So I ditched it.
Instead I read Nabokov's Favorite Word Is Mauve: What the Numbers Reveal About the Classics, Bestsellers, and Our Own Writing. It does have pictures of pens beneath each word of the title, but I'm calling it close enough. It was an interesting book but not something you really need to run out and grab. A couple infographics could be a good replacement.

I’m reading
and enjoying it so far, but was a bit shocked to note how long it is when starting! Hopefully I can finish it this week.
What are you reading for this category?
by Elizabeth Brundage
Just started it, but the unusual writing style has me hooked!
I will be reading The Woman on the Bus by Pauline McLynn
apart from a bus ticket and a small heart it is all text so hope it counts!
Kathy wrote: "Kerry, that looks like all text to me. I'd say yes. Fun books!"Thank you Kathy! I figured so, but wanted to make sure.
I read If Our Bodies Could Talk: A Guide to Operating and Maintaining a Human Body. It was very interesting.
Read
. Also on my Pulitzer Prize challenge, so I was happy to be checking it off two lists. A good, but not stellar, read for me.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
What a fun 80s flashback this was, with the added bonus of being narrated by Wil Wheaton, a personal celebrity crush of mine!
I read White Teeth for this one. Have been meaning to read something by her for a while now, so this worked out perfectly.
Perri wrote: "Looks like text to me!"Thanks for the response! I was getting held up on all the flourishes. :)
I've just finished
Nabokov's Favourite Word Is Mauve: The literary quirks and oddities of our most-loved authors
(Very interesting book about books and a short read if anyone needs one )
I'm currently reading
After You
I'm enjoying it. I read Me Before You sometime ago so I'm having to remember what happened, but generally getting the gist of it (can't quite remember who Nathan is - friend of Will's??).

He was one of Will's caregivers.
Sticking with Exit West for this one, but so far have finished both of my other books:For mid grade :Zorgamazoo. This was a desperate shot in the dark that actually turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It is written completely in verse and is kind of a quest to find what happened to the missing Zorgles. Silly rhymes and a perfect read aloud for any age that can sit and listen.
For picture books : The Book with No Pictures. I had to read this one at least 6 nights in a row before returning it to the library. If you have little ones, just go out and buy it and make sure you use your silly voices. You could also do what we did and get the audio book from the library on overdrive. This way you get to read it three times in a row. First a guy reads it in his silly voice, then a lady reads it in HER silly voice, then mom reads it and tries to outdo them both.
Did I mention how hard it is to search for children books with text only covers?? Thanks to whoever found the picture book :-)
I read Dark Matter
I chose it because I heard so many good comments and although I enjoyed it very much, I couldn't connect with the characteres.

The author is Teddy Wayne and seeing his name up in disco text (not Disco-Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes, remember them?) fondly reminds me of those departed soul music greats like Teddy Pendergrass and Barry White. Get dancin'!
