Midwest Geek (midwestgeek) | 124 comments With reference to The return of the goon squad: This recent entry is an orphan. There is provided no supporting information concerning this publication. Googling this title, I find no evidence anywhere that there ever was such a book by this author. (The person who created it is also the only person ever rating it.)

lethe | 16363 comments Odd. That title is also #4 in a list of books that Brian Molko loves: https://centrefoldsculture.blogspot.n...

Apart from that, it seems a reference to an American Football(?) team and a game based on that team?

I am thinking the book title is a slip of the pen (on both websites) and it should be merged into A Visit from the Goon Squad, but I'd like to hear other opinions.

Yes, right author, too.

I don't understand why you are referring to Wikipedia?

Those links are to "goon squad" in response to your query: ... it seems a reference to an American Football(?) team and a game based on that team? It has nothing to do with these, so far as I know.

I googled "return of the goon squad" in quotes and, apart from the website listing Brian Molko's favourite books, I got references to an American football team and a game.

The term "goon squad" is common slang, whose origin can be inferred from the quotes in the wikidictionary and the etymology in the wikipedia. It's irrelevant to the current issue.

Interesting. When I google that phrase I get a whole page of returns for Jennifer Egan's book. (I did not use quotes, but when I google for a gook here, I try to include the author in my search.) I've never heard anything about an American football team regarding goon squad.

Exactly.

I was only interested in finding out if the book actually exists with that name.

So did I, that's why I used quotes :)
