HELP - can't remember the title"

Dear all,

I'm trying to remember the title and author of a book I read several reviews of last year. It is a book of nature essays, very poetic in style. Each chapter/essay is about a different encounter with nature, e.g. a fox or a wolf. The author is female, and *possibly* American/Canadian. She may also be a poet. It is very descriptive and poetic, not supernatural but perhaps a bit whimsical. I'm pretty sure it was published after 2010.

For the life of me I can't recall the title or the author - it may be a single word title? If anyone has any suggestion or inkling as to what on earth it is I'm thinking of, please do let me know!

Sounds like Terry Tempest Williams? Or maybe Annie Dillard? “The Abundance” by Annie Dillard sounds quite close to what you’re describing.

Barbara Kingsolver's book, Prodigal Summer is well-based in nature.

Is it possibly something by Kathleen Dean Moore? I read and was impressed by her Wild Comfort: The Solace of Nature which came out in 2010.

It seems she also did a guided to journal keeping, but I have been unable to locate information on it.

Could it have been Upstream by Mary Oliver. She includes an encounter with a fox in that book of essays.

Actually, the description sounds a bit like One Day at Beetle Rock by Sally Carrrighar, or perhaps another of her books, One Day at Teton Marsh.

I’d like to read A Walk in the Woods again. It’s been awhile and I found I read an abridged copy when I did write it. I think abridgments are abominations!
