Leigh Ryan | 2 comments The book was written about five years ago: A family makes its living near a lake and makes ice, there are a number of sons, the ice house burns with a son or two and the father. The mother takes over the business and, with her two remaining sons, moves to a large city and adapts to modern ice making methods and becomes wealthy. The mother is the main character; I believe there was a conflict between the two sons about expansion, etc. Thanks guys.

Leigh, could this be a non-fiction book such as The Frozen-Water Trade by Gavin Weightman?

What's the location/country and time period?

No, it was definitely a novel and it was in the U.S. But thanks for trying.

The Icecutter's Daughter by Tracie Peterson?

Who started the ice making business - her husband, father, father-in-law, etc.?
