Bill's Chaos (wburris) has the group every considered reading magazines

There are many to be found at archive.org. I also have a large collection on my physical shelf.

I actually read a lot magazines, mostly specialized ones dealing with military history, military technology, aerospace technology and general history, in order to do research for the novels I write. I probably spend a lot more on magazines than on books. Their main advantage is their timeliness and relevance: a just published magazine may contain info that was not included in even the most recent books on a specific subject.

Bill's Chaos (wburris) I don't completely understand how things are organized at archive.org. The link I posted earlier only shows a small selection of what is available.

Here are some Galaxy magazines: https://archive.org/details/galaxymag...

Here are some IF magazines: https://archive.org/details/ifmagazin...

Amazing Stories: https://archive.org/search.php?query=...

just play around with the buttons on the left of the page as well as search to find all sorts of interesting things

Allison Hurd | 14266 comments Bill, we hadn't because for the most part we try to read whole books rather than short stories, and when we read books we try to make sure it's something widely available (and possibly available at libraries) so that people don't need to be able to buy books to join in.

But that seems like a great resource! I think it'd be a lot of fun if some portion of the group wanted to read magazines or short stories together.

Cheryl (cherylllr) If it's free on archive.org, I'm in! I'm actually a paying member there and would love a prod to explore them more.
