Just completed another book by James Patterson - The Murder House by James Patterson. Pretty standard murder mystery. A little long - editing out some of the extraneous pieces would have been helpful. Worth reading or listening to on a long car ride. 3 stars14/15
Hi! I finished 1/5 books for my challenge! The book I finished is Murder in Mesopotamia by Agatha Christie

updated msg 201finished A Conjuring of Light
now 10/15 from 3 authors instead of 9/18 from 4 authors as I removed Amie Kaufman
Just completed my 4th Kristin Hannah book - Angel Falls by Kristin Hannah. One of the reasons I enjoy reading an author's entire book history is to see the progression in their writing and ideas. While this book is an okay read, I can definitely tell that the author has matured in her writing style. The plot was alright but predictable, the characters were a bit flat (except for Liam, he was written well), and the writing not her usual standard. But this was one of her earlier works. Still worth reading. 3.5 stars15/17

Time has gone on and books I've read and need to read have forced me to once again modify my overall challenge. I am going to add James L. Nelson and Stephen King to my list. My challenge is now:For the Author's Work challenge: I will read 5 books by R. A. Salvatore (3 read), 5 books by Harry Harrison (2 read), 5 books by Michael Connelly (5 read), 3 books by Ralph Compton (2 read), 3 books by Raymond E. Fiest (2 read), 4 books by James L. Nelson (2 read), and 3 books by Stephen King (3 read). That is a total of 28

Just completed my 5th Kristin Hannah book - The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. Dear lord, she is such a good writer! There are passages in this book that read like poetry. I love how Alaska itself is almost a character in this book. And the plot she weaves is tragic and beautiful and likened to Alaska in wonderful ways. Definitely worth reading! 5 stars16/17
Updated message 14: 5/5 - my challenge is complete. I may be able to squeeze one or two more Shakespeare plays in by the end of the year but I'm not going to increase my goal.
Just completed my 5th book by James Patterson - Woman of God by James Patterson. This book was exactly what I needed today - the story of a survivor who kept faith and kept fighting. Writing was good, and characters were interesting, if a bit one-dimensional. I really appreciated the concept that sheds light on some of the basic issues with organized Christianity today. While I applaud the attempt to make a woman pope a near reality, the way that our world devalues women's bodies, minds, and voices makes this rather far-fetched unfortunately. Would that we were equally valued! Worth reading! 4 stars17/17 - challenge completed!
#38 Completed the following for the challenge:John Grisham - The Associate
Lee Child - Die Trying and Tripwire
Robert B. Parker - Night Passage, Sea Change and Stranger in Paradise
Just completed another Hannah read - Night Road by Kristin Hannah. Overall, a good read. In signature Hannah fashion, the characters were complex and sympathetic and tugged at the heart strings. My biggest issue was the beginning was a bit slow and the ending was rushed. It was too perfect. Worth reading. 4 stars18/17
Just completed another Maas book - Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas. Excellent! Everything you want in the finale of a great, epic series! Must, must, must either read recaps or have recently read entire series to get all the plot points and characters, but so worth it! Definitely worth reading! 5 stars19/17
