Saurabh Neve | 2 comments Hello Everyone! I am Saurabh from India. I like to read history, philosophy, business, sci-fiction and motivational books.

I had set a target of reading 20 books in last 4 months of 2017 and was able to read 18 books. Thus I miserably failed. But now, in 2018 I am rejuvenated and would like to set the target of reading 70 books in the year.

I am focusing on reading business and motivational books this year. I have made a list of 14 books and shall keep on increasing the list with time. Please feel free to recommend me books and as well check my list.

Happy Reading :)

Sheryl (sarauscher) | 7 comments Hi,

My name is Sheryl. I am 45 years old and have loved reading since a teenager. I am from NJ.

I am a mother of 3 young adult/teenage children. My second (my only daughter) left for college in the Fall and I am struggling to "find myself" again. So I am hoping to get involved in this reading group.

Last year I read 49 books, so I am hoping to get to 60 this year. I read Fiction, but like it to be contemporary, I love Medical based stories and Mystery as well. I also have 4 German Shepherds and love to read books that involve dogs as well. I recently read a book called The Dog Lover Unit that I absolutely loved.

I look forward to the challenges that this group has to offer and I look forward to getting to know some of the fellow members.

I am also interested in doing some Audio books this year. But I don't really know how to do that. Do you guys do them off of your phones? I don't buy books, I use the Public Library. Can I borrow them in a format that I can play on my phone or IPAD?

Thanks for letting me join,
Sheryl

Failed miserably??? Just 2 books short of your goal AND 18 books in just 4 months, that's not what I would call "miserably failed" lol

Anyways, welcome to the group Saurabh! Hope you'll enjoy it. Happy reading to you too!!

Hi Sheryl, welcome to the group! You have come to the right place. This is a very active group, so all you have to do is be active yourself and you easily get involved with other group members. Also maybe joining some of the monthly group and buddy reads can really help you get in touch with fellow readers (and it's real fun to read and discuss books together!).

I love dogs (and all animals actually) as well and love to read books and see movies about dogs! I saw the movie A Dog's Purpose and really loved it. Want to read the book too as well as the sequel A Dog's Journey.

I look forward to the challenges that this group has to offer and I look forward to getting to know some of the fellow members.

There are plenty of challenges to choose from and as I mentioned, I really recommend the group and buddy reads as well.

I am also interested in doing some Audio books this year. But I don't really know how to do that. Do you guys do them off of your phones? I don't buy books, I use the Public Library. Can I borrow them in a format that I can play on my phone or IPAD?"

I don't do audio books so I can't help you there. If you post your question in the Let's Chat folder you have a better chance of getting a response as more people read that. Just add New topic in the right hand corner of this folder: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Good luck & have fun.
If you have any questions just ask!!

Hi Sheryl. I get audiobooks downloaded directly to my phone from my library, Check with them to see what system they use (there are several) they will be glad to help you out. I also have friends that use audible.com and seem to like it, but I’ve never used it.
Good luck!

Michelle Donovan | 19 comments Hi! I'm Michelle, I'm from Canada, and believe it or not, this is the very first Goodreads group I've ever joined, although I've been on the site for a few years now.

I'm not a fan of romance novels or what they call "chick lit' but I do have a soft spot for memoirs and non-fiction (especially when it's about medicine). I'm also a total Stephen King freak and have read everything he's ever written.

I'm looking forward to seeing what others in the group are reading, to see if I can find some new books for my TBR shelf (as though I need any more! *L*)

message 808: by Albana (new)

Albana Hi!
I'm from Canada and I'm currently doing a Master's in Environmental Sustainability. I like to read classic literature, biographies, and basically any page-turner. I'm always open to book recommendations! I hope to use GoodReads more this year, and implement more self-care reading time in the busy student-life schedule.

Still learning the ropes of participating in groups and challenges, but I'm excited to hear from fellow readers in 2018!

Hi everyone! My name is Kate and I’m not new to Goodreads just to this group. But I’m glad to be here and I’m looking forward to chatting books with everyone else and I’m glad to have found buddy reads as well! I haven’t been able to find a group with buddy reads so that will be fun! Anyways, I like YA mostly and I do book reviews on my YouTube Channel. It’s a lot of fun and I hope to be able to read more books this year!

message 810: by Shibin (new)

Shibin k (madsoul) Hi everyone,
I'm Shibin, I'm from India.
I was not an active Good Reads user lately, I find this place very interesting and would like to share my thoughts on the books I've read here, my initial idea was to track all my books but this community seems to be very strong and sensible.
I prefer fiction and historic fiction more, not much into fantasy yet.
I basically read anything i find interesting.

Thank you for letting me in, I don't know much about how these groups works, I guess i am still figuring it. Hope you guys'd help.

John Bradburn (johnwbradburn) Hi,

I'm John, from England. Have amassed a significant collection of books over the last few years only to have the majority of them sit and collect dust on my bookshelf, so I'm beginning to whittle down the unreads one by one.

Favourite genre is historical fiction and mystery. The Alienist has personally been the most enjoyable read so far.

Not sure how many books I'll set myself, perhaps one a week.

Anyway, happy reading to everyone!

Michelle Donovan | 19 comments Hello everyone! I'm Michelle. I'm from Canada and believe it or not, this is the very first group I've joined here on Goodreads (even though I've been using the site since 2013!)

I am a huge reader and will read just about anything, although I must admit that I'm not a huge fan of what is termed "chick lit". I absolutely love non-fiction (especially memoirs or anything medical-themed) and I am a Stephen King fanatic who has read absolutely everything he's ever written.

I'm looking forward to being a member of the group and seeing what other members are reading. Sometimes I get stuck trying to figure out what to read next, and it'll be nice to get some ideas! :)

A lot of us joined GR for some years before joining a group. Glad that you did and that you chose us :)

Love SK too. As a teenager it was almost all I read. Until very suddenly I got enough and stopped (and later stopped reading altogether). Last year I picked it back up and started reading SK as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing what others in the group are reading, to see if I can find some new books for my TBR shelf (as though I need any more! *L*)"

Ah yes, the familiar everlasting (and growing) TBR list lol

Hope you have fun here Michelle. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Jossie Solheim (jossiemariesolheim) | 1 comments My name is Jossie Marie Solheim. I from Cornwall, Uk. Where I live with my husband, 11 year old son and a whole host of pets. I love reading and will give anything a go really. Although there are some genres that generally don't go over well with me, and that erotica, and real life stories. There are always exceptions to the rules though, so I try to keep and open mind.
I've been doing the reading challenge for quite a few years now and love it, but a lot of my friends have busy lives and can't read as much as I can so I thought I might find some kindred spirits here. That said I am setting my challenge fairly low this year at just 75 books. I may up it later, if I don't succeed in my attempts to try and get a few more things done this year, and thus read a little less. But only time will tell there. lol. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you all. Be warned though I am incredibly forgetful and easily distracted so bare with me if I am sometimes slow to reply.

Charley M | 2 comments Hello All,

I'm Charley, I'm from Oregon in the US. I love all kinds of books, mostly non-fiction personal growth stuff, but I do enjoy a good fantasy series from time to time.

I found the group when I finally decided to peruse the rest of the features of this site and stumbled on groups. I dig what this group is about so I figured I'd check it out.

My reading goal this year is 50 books. It'll be hard, but I think I can do it. I read somewhere that CEO's read 60 books a year, so ultimately that's what I'm trying to hit, but two years ago I hit 30 books, last year I was going for 40 and hit 52, this year I'm going for 50, next year I'm going for 60. Booyah.

Cheers all.

Megan (anearbysnow) | 2 comments Hello, my name is Megan and I am from Canton, Ohio.

I read mostly fantasy and historical romance, as well as non-fiction history books. I also enjoy reading the BBC History Magazine.

I am new to Goodreads and I was browsing through groups and just happened across this one.

My goal for 2018 is to read 15 books. I have time to read for pleasure now, so this is totally doable for me. I may even up the number as I complete reads.

Looking forward to spending 2018 with y'all!

Eddy (kyceti) Good evening reading friends! I'm Eddy (Don't let the profile name fool you! :P Eddy is my nickname.), a university maths student from Sydney, Australia. The rather methodical approach of mathematics can bore a deep hole into my mind from time to time, so literature, among other arts, keep me entertained. I will read anything and everything, but I have a special place for Modernist fiction and poetry. I am also keen to try some Chinese literature to practice my Chinese language skills.

I've made a pledge to read 100 texts with a classic fiction focus. I'm currently 7% through my goal, although I can attribute my speed currently to it being the holidays. Let us hope that I will be able to keep this speed up anon.

I'm also doing the "An Author's Works" challenge with 12 authors at 5 books each, mainly on Existentialist and Modernist writers, because I want to become more acquainted with the historical time period.

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Hi - my name is Nancy and I hail from NJ, the land of Princeton University, Rutgers College and Tony Soprano's stomping grounds. I a retired senior citizen who taught both at high school and more recently as a substitute teacher in our town. I still do this from time to time. I am married for 47 tears to my husband and we have one married daughter and twin grandchildren - a boy, Henry, and a girl Gabrielle. They are 21/2 and love to get into mischief. But we are lucky we live 15 minutes from our daughter who lived in Manhattan for several years before she married.

I have always been a voracious reader and have been in book groups since I joined America Online in 1994. One of my book activities since I was 9 years old is writing down every book, play, and short story I read by year. I have read as many as 125 books in one year. I am also in 3 face to face book groups.

I look forward to getting to know members of this group and chatting about books

Abhi (abhinavrupesh) | 54 comments Hello everyone!

I'm Abhinav from India. This is my first ever book club to join and I'm so excited.

I read a lot of fiction genre books, but I'm also into mystery, sci-fi and thriller. Harry Potter series will be my all time favourite. Period.

Lately I've been drowned into Ayn Rand's philosophical world and I think I'm tripping in here. Loving her writing style.

I have been searching for a group book club and when I came across this group, I'm pulled into it just based on the simple group title. That's why I'm here, right? To keep up with my book challenge and also find new suggestions.

This year, I'm challenging myself to finish a minimum of 18 books. I've done this challenge once last year (14 books).

Hope we can all travel together with lots of interesting new books and I can't wait to hear good book suggestions and make some good friends all the while.

Much love x

Meghan Hi everyone! I'm Meghan and I live in the Netherlands. I have been in love with books and reading ever since I was little, I think it was my mom who passed this passion for books on to me ;) I like to read various kinds of genres, but my absolute favorites at the moment are mysteries, thrillers and historical fiction. When I came across this huge platform of booklovers from all over the world I got extremely excited and signed up right away! Unfortunally, few people in my daily life are as fond of books as I am.. which is why I like the concept of Goodreads so much! One of my general goals for 2018 is to read more and more constantly as well, I hope to have finished at least 20 books by the end of the year

message 841: by Amy (new)

Amy | 13 comments Hello Everyone,

My name is Amy. I am from Saskatchewan, Canada.

I love a wide variety of books, mostly fiction. I like young adult, historical fiction, stories from different places and cultures than mine, romance novels, fantasy, independent novels, mystery and crime, some true crime, epics, series and more. I really don't care for celebrity biographies, political non-fiction or horror. I also haven't really gotten into graphic novels.

I've set a goal for a minimum 200 novels this year. My other goals is to brush up on the classics. I read Tess of the D'Ubervilles , Great Expectations and The Count of Monte Cristo last year and enjoyed those immensely so I plan to read a few more of the classics this year.

I also am a firm believer that life is too short to read books that I don't enjoy so I am not opposed to stopping a book at any point if I don't like it regardless of the hype surrounding the novel.

I'd love to meet new people and get new ideas of books to try.

Here's to a 2018 full of new book adventures!

My goal this year is to read at lest 30 books but i have a feeling I’ll beat that goal. I’m kinda a speed reader especially when it’s a good book i won’t stop. I once read a 400 page book in one day because i was so addicted. I love music just as much as reading and I’m never not listening to music. I listen to music to do everything. There’s never a day where i don’t pick up my book and put on a good song and just get in the zone. I’m currently reading rock me by cherrie Lynn i highly recommend it. My favorite kind of books are romance novels and my book shelf at home is full of them. I started getting into reading on the app wattpad in like the 8th grade and just became obsessed with the stories on there. My favorite book After by Anna Todd actually started on wattpad which is where i read it first. I loved t so much i bought the whole series and got into paper back books. So that’s me.

Hi! I'm Helen and I live in the UK.

I enjoy reading fantasy books, but I'll also read the odd crime thriller, classic or fiction book. I used to read a lot more than I do now, but I'm trying to get back into it hence why I've just joined good reads. I used to just keep track of my reading by writing it in a notebook! I think Audiobooks would be great for me for the work commute, but I've not tried any yet as I still prefer a book in hand.
