Yeah. I mean, what would the point of him turning himself in if he was going to die that day anyway? What would turning himself in accomplish? Under normal circumstances, if he hadn't run, what would have happened? Whatever it was would have taken weeks or months, not hours. Not to mention if he had turned himself in he most likely would have died in police custody, which is just a whole nother can of worms and for everyone involved.
Maybe not the morally correct thing, but it was the understandable thing. Who wants to spend the last day of their life in jail?
