The Invention of Hugo Cabret
question
Looking for books similar to Hugo Cabret

Hi!
New to GoodReads, I'm hoping someone can help me find books similar to The Invention of Hugo Cabret. My nephew is 14 and "doesn't like to read". I told him he just needs to read the right things and he said the only book he really likes is Hugo. I'd like to get him something similar in theme/style to show him that he can find other books he'll enjoy, too.
He's very technically minded, loves building things, Since he's not a big pleasure reader I don't want to start him on something too dense, but I think he would enjoy science fiction or fantasy books if he gave them a chance, I'm just not familiar with a lot of YA that fits that bill. Any recs would be super appreciated!

HI there, did you happen to look at wonderstruck or the marvels? They are both by Brian Selznick. My daughter loved all three. She loves to read, so i wondered how she would do with the graphic novel parts or if she would enjoy them and she loved them.
