In most books I would agree with this but the love triangle was kind of the whole point of this book.

I know it was, and it could have been good. Cassia was just too wimpy and annoying about it. Plus, it could have been an awesome dystopian book if it wasn't all about Cassia going "Ky or Xander? I just can't pick!"
I usually hate love triangles though.

I see what you mean.

I really do understand why other people like them, but I find them annoying.
The girls are weak, the boys are always the same. One childhood love and one mysterious new guy.... The never end the way you want them too, generally with the girl picking the new boy over the childhood love.
I always feel bad for the guy not picked. You live a girl your whole life, she loves you back anf then some new Vampire, Baker, Aberration, comes along and takes her from you.
Seriously, sucks to be them.

I understand why.
I think we'll just agree to disagree on this one.

[one] maybe throughout the book series add memories of her and xander as kids, show us their connection and love as it bloomed through the ages.
[two] create some steamy chemistry between her and ky, it fell flat for me didn't really feel a connection at all.
[three] she does a really crummy job of explaining the governments control, i wanted more fear of them something to really build up for retaliation reasons.
okay rant over lol.
The didn't read more than the first book but I could already see where it was going so. Add in a story line where she really does more than fall in forbidden love have a real cause.

Yeah, I can see that. I liked the series but I can see where people wouldn't.

SPOT ON! I couldn't even read the third book the writing was so robotic.

Actually, I tried to read the second book and couldn't get through more than two chapters.
What I would change? I would get rid of the first-person present tense narrative. I find it super annoying! If it had been told as third person, we could have gotten out of Cassia's head and I think there could have been a lot more plot development.

The second book is where I drew the line. I just couldn't take any of it. The plot, the writing, nothing.
