Michelle (literarilyspeaking1) Definitely. And too join-me outdoorsy. Luke at least would go off and do things on his own and leave Lorelai at home.

Lisa | 6 comments I don't even remember Alex, was he the one that was starting a new Coffee place?

message 53: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (literarilyspeaking1) Yeah. He appeared in about 2 episodes in season 3.

I've always thought Jason's witticism was annoying. The other guys bantered with Lorelai too but he just comes off as a smart ass to me.

message 55: by Emma (new)

Emma | 4 comments Luke, no contest. He was always doing little sweet things for her:fixing things around her house, being there for Rory. There will never be another witty, dry, sarcastic, loving relationship like there was between Luke and Lorelai. Plus, they have the whole alliteration thing going on!

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

Lukeee. <3333
Chris annoyed me.
Max was okayyy, second favorite.
But Luke, really. Think about it: the chuppah, even though he didn't like Max, fixing everything both at her home && at the dragonfly for free, he cared for Rory, "I just like to see you happy."

And I don't know why, but there's one scene where Chris acts like a girl. In the season five episode, Wedding Bell Blues, when he and Luke are arguing and he's like; "Rory is my daughter. /Mine./" and his hand is on his hip while the other is hanging down like some high-class girl-y snob. xDD it just makes me laugh.

A.U.C. (antoniafuc) | 12 comments People will probably hate me for this; but I actually hate Luke & Lorelai, and I love Lorelai & Christopher. Why? Luke is sulky, rant-y, and absolutely annoying. He was totally anti-Lorelai. In fact, Luke was boring... instead, Christopher and Lorelai made a cool couple, even though they never worked out. I'm extremely sad that they didn't end up together.

message 58: by Mary (new)

Mary | 4 comments No one has mentioned the fact that Luke is WAAAYYYY sexier than any of the other men in Lorlai's life - not just physically, but in the way he shows his love for Lorelai and Rory. He was always the constant in their lives, never flitting in and out. You always knew where to find him. Luke - hands down!

message 59: by El (new)

El Mary, but remember...

SPOILERS AHEAD

Luke totally flaked when his daughter came into the picture. That sort of soured my opinion of him. Well, it soured my opinion of the writers, but that's different. :)

I totally agree. Luke sticked around Lorelai and Rory when they needed it. Who brought Rory's new mattress, when she moved to dormitory at Yale? Luke.

In one of episodes there was a scene between Luke and Christopher about that Chris wasn't there in important moments in Rory's life like when she was sick that Luke was helping Lorelai taking care of her.

message 61: by Chloe (new)

Chloe | 1 comments I am watching Season4 now. Luke is funny, and he is such a nice person that no one can not like him. Christopher is good looking, in my opinion, but he shows up only a couple of times. Max is nice, I think he really loves Lorelai a lot.
By the way, I am Chinese, a Chinese in China. I'm so happy to be in the club.

message 62: by Cheri (new)

Cheri | 1 comments Luke for sure! I love him and Loralie together. They have such great chemistry!

i don't think that was the case. she was just offended that he didn't want to include her in his child's life.

i know right i loved when jess came and talked some sense into rory when she quit school and was just doing rubbish. that part was so hot!!!!

message 66: by Greenfairylv (new)

Greenfairylv | 12 comments Team Luke here. He's the yin to her yang. They were just perfect together.
I really like Christopher too though. They picked the perfect actor for that part.

message 67: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) I vote Luke! He is just such a great guy who has always been there for her. He truly loves her just the way she is and I just think they make a perfect couple.

message 68: by Anna (new)

Anna (lilfox) | 199 comments Lorelai and Luke are great couple. They had ups and downs. Sometimes they acted nearly as couple long time after wedding.

message 69: by Marianne (new)

Marianne | 18 comments My favorite has to be Max. He's smart,well-read,caring, romantic, good-looking...Ever since that funny message on the phone (from "Love, and war, and snow"), he has had my heart... Who knows, if there were no Luke, maybe, he would turn out to be the right one for Lorelei...

As for Luke, I liked him more before he started dating Lorelei, the anticipation of which actually excited me back in the earlier seasons...I don't mean to offend anybody but with Luke I realized he had very few interests and aspirations in life, except Lorelei, Rory, his diner and camping. Plus, he took so much time to make up his mind about Lorelei...What I say? They did emphasize he was the One for her but I just didn't see them as soulmates and thought that she could do more.

Finally, I did enjoy seeing Christopher. He was immature many times, yes, but he understood and shared so many things in common with Lorelei, was funny, and charming and there was always this possibility that he might do the right thing and redeem himself. Unfortunately, it didn't work out...

Dottie (oxymoronid) | 698 comments Excellent points on all three of these characters, Marianne.

message 71: by Ginny (new)

Ginny | 8 comments I'm new to this group; love reading and love GG-watched all the series w/ my two teenage daughters. I'm a single mom with two girls and my daily mantra is'What would Lorelei do?'lol
As for Max, Christopher, and Jason- ok, ick(grow up Christopher!) and never in a million years, u slimy toad! Obviously, a big fan of Luke. He did have some character flaws(don't we all)but he did love Lorelei.Oh, if only I could find my Luke!

message 72: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (AlexiisNicole) | 4 comments Luke, definitely, I just LOVE his character. I always like the grumpy ones. Like, one of my favorite characters is Michel, I laugh so hard with him. But anyway, it was obvious that Luke always had a thing for Lorelai since the beginning, and throughout the show I could really tell he was a sweet guy, the kind of person that you could actually count on. Then, Christopher is just too absent and unpredictable, you never know when he'll just go off to God knows where. And, finally, I don't think Lorelai ever really loved Max.

message 73: by Aubrey (new)

Aubrey (busy_reading_mama) | 9 comments LUKE!! I really liked Christopher and Max but it was always Luke. He truly loved Lorelei and just wanted her to be happy. He did so many sweet things for her. I just loved them together. I did hate the last two seasons, the entire April storyline was so stupid. I can't believe they did that! And I think the way Luke acted throughout it was completely out of character. I'd pick Christopher and then Max after that.

message 74: by M (last edited Jul 24, 2010 10:33PM) (new)

M | 12 comments I didn't like Max, I don't know why.... I just dislike his type... Yeah I'm all for literary and smart guys but there was just SOMETHING about him that gave me the creeps. Like... I personally wouldn't want to be touched by him LOL. I mean, it's not that he's ugly or anything, it's just... how he comes off to me.

Christopher, I think the dialog between him and Lorelai is pretty cute sometimes. They have a lot of history together, and they say the weirdest things to each other on the phone.... I haven't finished the series yet but I do like Christopher. The whole idea of it is kind of romantic, the childhood friends that were always meant to be together but either life or themselves got in the way until the very end. I mean, the day is still young so I might change my mind later, but as it is now, I don't mind if the two ended up together. They would be one of those super spontaneous couples that would drop everything and take off on a road trip to go see Metallica or something. I might be biased because I like Metallica... ahah...

Luke, well I love Luke. He's such a great guy, I'm surprised he could put up with all of Lorelai's crap sometimes. I mean, she was kind of playing mind games with him half the time, leading him on, leading him off, leading him on, then dating someone else, etc etc. I'm surprised any guy would stick around for that long! Not to mention he's always been supporting Lorelai with whatever she needed. He's the nice, reliable, manly "I can't express my feelings very well" guy but still a complete romantic. I mean, I do love Lorelai and all her witty banter but sometimes I feel Luke deserves better. I mean, of course I'm always rooting for Lorelai to be happy but... POOR GUY!!!

Fanny, you and I must be soul-mates! I've said a few times that Max gives me the heebie-jeebies, and I don't think I've heard from many others who saw him that way.

message 76: by Dima (new)

Dima (dima239) | 4 comments I loved Max... He's very Hot ;)

message 77: by A.U.C. (new)

A.U.C. (antoniafuc) | 12 comments Christopher. Luke was so negative and self-centered, and Max just didn't click. I liked Luke as a character to give the series spice, however, I think that he gave Lorelai nothing back, as he had such a negative personality. I don't think I remember one time when he was with Lorelai that he didn't complain about something! (Two things come to mind: when they went to Martha's Vineyard, and when they went to a party for a magazine feature of Lorelai's inn in New York.) I wasn't sorry at all when she left him. Also, what kind of a couple are they if they can't tell each other secrets? The only thing they had in common was Stars Hollow and they didn't even see THAT in the same way!

Christopher all the way!

Anna (lilfox) | 199 comments Saraes wrote: "Luke! Lorelai and Luke had chemistry and they worked together well. Yes, there were plenty of fights between them especially before they dated, but that's because the energy between them was so str..."

You're so right.

message 79: by Sanna (new)

Sanna | 7 comments All three guys are OK, but Luke is the one who should be with Lorelai. Christopher is a good person, but he hasn't always been around. Max is also a very nice man, but I don't think he was right for Lorelai. Luke, however, has always been there for her and Rory, and there's just such chemistry between Luke and Lorelai. They really should have gotten married =(

message 80: by Anna (new)

Anna (lilfox) | 199 comments Christopher and Max were in and out from Lorelai and Rory's life too much. In one of the episodes there's a quarell between Luke and Christoper about Rory. Luke said that where Chris was when Rory had to be taken to a hospital cause of high fever.

Diana Anna wrote: "Christopher and Max were in and out from Lorelai and Rory's life too much. In one of the episodes there's a quarell between Luke and Christoper about Rory. Luke said that where Chris was when Rory ..."

I have to agree Luke was always there for both Lorelai and Rory, he would do things for them without even thinking about it.
I have to re-watch the Max episodes because I truthfully don't remember that relationship. And Christopher seemed like a snob to me, especially in the later years when he gets all that money.

Lacie Solt LUKE!!!!!!

message 85: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen | 7 comments I love how in this thread there is no mention of Jason "Digger" Stiles. It's as if he never happened, which is how I like to think of it.

message 86: by Pinky_rocks (new)

Pinky_rocks | 5 comments I've been rewatching the last two seasons and I have to say that I really don't like seeing Lorelai and Christopher together...I don't know. There's just something wrong with that picture.
I'd vote for Luke. He seemed to care the most about her and was willing to wait soooo long for her to finally come around, or better said for himself to finally come around.

message 87: by Bea (new)

Bea (betterdays) | 5 comments Definitely Luke!

message 88: by Linda (new)

Linda (pentaxchicyahoocom) | 2 comments I know I'm a "little" delayed on responding to this thread, but I wanted to give my 2 cents anyway. I loved Luke and thought he was perfect for Lorelai. I liked Christopher, but he wasn't right for the grown up Lorelai. And I agree with the few who liked Max (I think he was hot too), and he could have worked for her also. I hated Jason, and never quite got why they even added him in there.

message 89: by Christina (new)

Christina | 8 comments totally luke! max was a push over and just not the right type and christopher is always running. christopher is just there for lorelai's rebound guy

message 90: by Katie (new)

Katie | 16 comments At first I thought Max, but after seeing all 7 seasons definetly Luke! Ugh not Christopher though for sure.

message 91: by Diana (new)

Diana | 12 comments Luke all the way! They have that crazy chemistry, same humor and stuff like that... Max was much too stuck-up for Lorelei and Christopher is ok, but he's bad for the grown-up Lorelai, although they have that first-love thing going on...

message 92: by Lamees (new)

Lamees | 3 comments LUKE DANES

i'll explain why later :P

message 93: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenha) | 4 comments luke- he got the girls from the begining and was always there to fix a window or just talk to. i mliked how he was gruff on the outside but a softie on the inside

message 94: by Hayley (new)

Hayley (atkinshayley) | 9 comments You know, I'd have to say Luke. He was a great guy...but then again, I loved Max. So Luke and Max in a way. I was sad for both but Luke was more perfect for Lorelei. I've always hated Christopher. I can't stand him at all. Luke is the best. And Jason was a loser.

message 95: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (ramblingbooks) | 57 comments Luke definitely! Even from the first episode you could tell they were made for each other. They always had this chemistry between each other.

message 96: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (kaylamaurine) I can't stand watching the majority of season seven because Lorelai and Chris get married. I think Luke is the best for her, and Jess is the best for Rory. However, Logan is pretty great too.

message 97: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (ramblingbooks) | 57 comments I know, Chris always ruined everything and i hated when he was with Lorelei. I liked Jess for Rory too. Dean was a pretty good first boyfriend, but sometimes he got on my nerves. I like Logan MOST of the time. I hated how he just leaves her at the end because she said no to his proposal, he was a jerk sometimes.

message 98: by Béa (new)

Béa (softinfire) There is only Luke. Hated everyone else, except Jason.

And just let the record show that I absolutely hated Dean or as I continue to call him 'Dirk Squarejaw'. I have absolutely no explanation for this hostility.

message 99: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (coutlaw) For Lorelai? Luke. For me? Max Medina, all the way baby. I wonder if I could convince him to read Proust to me naked... :P

Lori Walker Chelsea wrote: "For Lorelai? Luke. For me? Max Medina, all the way baby. I wonder if I could convince him to read Proust to me naked... :P"

HA! I hadn't really considered splitting it up like that. I think that may be why I wanted Lorelai to wind up with Max: because I like him so much. I think you're onto something.
