Yes, Lady Susan was set well before the Regency, so the partly-down hairstyles are appropriate. The costumes, too, are not Regency, with bodices to the waist instead of the Empire cinching right under the breasts.

It's a short book and an interesting read. Bad Austen: The Worst Stories Jane Never Wrote is slightly longer but a quick read as it's made up of lots of little stories.
Other short story collections (all with stories by our lovely Mod) are Sun-Kissed: Effusions of Summer, Then Comes Winter, and The Darcy Monologues. All are four- and five-star-rated.

I recall this one as being pretty short, or at least a fast read: The Courtship of Edward Gardiner: A Pride & Prejudice Prequel by Nicole Clarkston. It precedes Pride and Prejudice by a generation and focuses on Elizabeth’s uncle. Lots of charming cameo appearances by younger versions of the P&P characters!
anyone know where I can get sequel to ardently?? I'm liking this book alot and when I went to get the sequel it didn't show up on amazon

I don't know about a sequel, but I remember that there was a little vignette follow up story that Claudine had up on her blog, JustJane1813. Even More Ardently

I have "Deception: A Tale of Pride and Prejudice" by Ola Wegner as my top book on my TBR list, but when I go to amazon to buy it (for kindle) it lists it with a price, but then tells me I can't purchase it at this time.Is it available anywhere else?

There is a 2011 Kindle version of Deception by Ola Wegner that is not available for purchase, and a newer, 2014, edition of Deception that is available for purchase.Try this:

i won an ebook through a giveaway but am having a hard time figuring oout how to get it to kindle. this is a 1 time only thing too. I got a link to my email about "send to kindle by email" on amazon but I have no idea what I am even reading. I am technologically challenged.

I suspect that link of instructions is exactly the one that Amazon provides for how to transfer ebooks to Kindles that I would have pointed you toward. I'll add what I do to receive ebooks on my kindle in case its not.
I know you have to go to the main Amazon page then under your account scroll down to Managing Content and Devices. Under 'Managing Content and Devices' click on the 'Settings' file at the far right. Scroll down to 'personal document settings' and add the email as a safe one for where your new ebook is coming from. Then you basically email from the current location that is holding the ebook to your kindle like you would a regular email.
But maybe others can explain it better.
like this kindle one says "email_1234@kindle.com" thats who isend it to?
im using that as an example. i forard email i got from author to sendd to my special kindle email name? or do i add her email to account?

Add her email to your approved list of emails to receive from onto your kindle and send her your kindle email address next if you don't have the book yet. If you do, then just add your own email to your approved list and email it to your Kindle email address. It might take a while to show up even a day later.

I haven't posted yet... let me try and see what happens. Sometimes they balk on ARC reviews... thinking an author is padding the rankings.
Yep... I got the same notice. However, I turned around and bought the book and tried to post again and got the same thing. I will wait until tomorrow and attempt to post again. They should then have a verified purchase on file and we'll see if they accept it then.
OK... there are two books shown on Amazon... the first one has an icon that says 'sponsored' at the top left. That was the one I clicked on when I got the notice. This time I clicked on the second one. It took my review... but I had bought the book so don't know if that was the reason or not. Try it again Wose and use that second book.
Well ... I can't find the icon with "sponsored". The only time I find two books is if I search "London Holiday" -- then the book by Nicole Clarkston is listed along with an older book by Richard Peck.I also can't find your review posted on either book -- but sometimes it takes longer for reviews to show up in searches.
I will try again later -- maybe the restriction will be removed.
It was above the book name. I am on my computer so it may be a different screen. It shows two copies of Nicole's book over the name of one is the word 'sponsored' and the other doesn't. I still haven't seen my review... but I've had to wait hours before.

Maybe it is some glitch going on, too. That has been known to happen when its Amazon.

Just tried to post the review again ... and it accepted it!Nicole Clarkston responded to my note that others are having similar problems. Amazon has made changes to their reviewing policy.
A friend of mine wants to know how to rate a book without marking it as read. Is this possible?She says, " I have an unfinished bookmark [shelf], but unless I mark it as READ (which seems disingenuous) I can't give it a star-rating.
Go to "my books"Under "bookshelves" hit "edit"
Go to her unfinished shelf and click on "exclusive"
That will remove it from her currently reading to unfinished. She can give it a star rating if she wants.
Here's the explanation for exclusive shelves:
exclusive shelves: All members have three default shelves (read, currently-reading, and to-read), which are mutually exclusive, meaning a book can only be on one of them. Members can create as many additional shelves as they like, and books can be on as many non-exclusive shelves as you desire. This may be useful for shelves such as "reference" or "gave-up-on." It may take a few minutes for the changes to propagate if you have a lot of books on this shelf.

I don't know these people, have never seen them in the comments section of Austenesque and half of them don't even have a profile on GR. Also there are no books or reviews listed for them.
I am a suspicious person by nature and I don't trust any of this. Therefore... I'm ignoring all of them and don't feel safe going to any site link I don't know about.
Is anyone else being bombarded with these friend requests?

Yes, for over a week, I've been hitting the ignore button on them all. They all offer an ebook and have no books on their shelves and no friends (unless someone gave them a yes not realizing). Soliciting so blatantly at the least or some sort of spamming/scamming at the worst. I get four in a day at times, but I just keep clicking 'ignore'. I suppose I should figure out how to report the problem. :)
Thanks... If a friend request doesn't even read books or review... I have to wonder... why they want to be friends with me? If they have never commented on anything in our news feeds or book reviews..., WTH [what the heck]? I hit ignore immediately. Thanks for your response.

I've had a few in the past, but not recently. One thing I always do is to check what books we have in common by going on to their profile. If there aren't any or only one or two, then that's no a good sign. They've all been ignored!
Mine mostly have been this week... and a few last week. Anji, when I tried to click on their profile... several of them didn't have one. Now, that is very strange. How can they friend request and not have a profile on GR? IGNORE...
Jeanne, that's very strange! I wonder if Goodreads has been hacked? Not sure how we'd report it, but will look into it. I wonder if Sophia knows?
OK, so I've been to the "Contact" section of the "About" part of the Goodreads website and sent a message:"I belong to the group "Austenesque Lovers TBR Challenge 2018". Some of the members are reporting multiple friend requests from people purporting to be members but when they check, some these people apparently have no profile on the Goodreads site.
Could you tell me how that can happen, please?
Does it mean that the Goodreads site has been hacked or has a problem?

There's an option to send an image, so I guess if someone who"s had this experience could send a screenshot, it might help them. They did say it could be several days before they answer.
Anji... Sophia is on message 93 and states that she has been getting them too. I can't screen shot... but I did keep the email request in case I needed it later. That way I have their names.
I haven't had this happening to me... well, not recently and not a lot. I remember one or two meeting that description maybe a month ago. I never accept friend requests without comparing books. If we have no JAFF books in common, I hit "ignore" and forget about them.
I have gotten a few more friend requests lately from people who don't really seem to do anything on Goodreads other than collect friends. I had accepted them before looking at their profiles but I think I will follow your lead in the future and compare books before hitting accept. I used to not want to be rude by declining but it does seem weird for complete strangers you have no books or clubs in common with to be sending you friend requests.
