SOLVED. D.H. Lawrence Short Story About a Widow Making Love with a Man by a Fireplace. [s]

This was a short story we read in my AP Literature and Composition class in high school. I'm 90% sure it's by D.H. Lawrence and set in the Victorian era. A widow (or maybe she's just an old maid) has a man over to her house (a ranch or farm possibly?). They end up having sex or almost having sex next to the fireplace. Then he asks her to marry him and she says yes. I believe she's kind of desperate for a husband and is sexually repressed, etc. I think it takes place on a rainy night. This was a short story found in the AP Lit & Comp textbook (in the U.S. public school system) and I remember the Kate Chopin story "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin was also in this textbook. If D.H. Lawrence isn't the author, it is a similar author of that time period.
