Dead Water (Benjamin January, #8) by Barbara Hambly"

Yes, it will work.

If not, anyone have any suggestions for that category?"

Yes, it does. I see you've picked up Trouble in Mudbug. It's a fun read.

Yes.

The second, third, and fourth badges aren't 2 parts each. It's not the first round and then the second round of the badge. You have to read 2 books from each sign in order to complete the badge. It doesn't matter what order you read them in.

Then I'm on the right track, for a change!
Thanks!

Katrisa | 4497 comments Hey Janice,
Can you clarify the actor tasks a bit for me? So, I get the straight up movie made from a book starring the actor. It's the other bits that are confusing me.
So the other ways to fulfill this task are:
1. read a book that has the same title as the movie even if it is not an adaptation
2. Read another book by the same author who wrote the book the movie was adapted from

Is that right? So for Sissy Spacek, I could read Stephen King's Carrie, or another book called Carrie or a different Stephen King book?

Yes, that's correct. You have 3 options to apply to the actor tasks.

Thanks for pointing out that Sissy Spacek acted in a Stephen King movie. I can apply The Outsider to it. I would have completely missed that.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Janice - does that mean that I can read The Green Mile (sorry - I can't link in the mobile app) for the Sissy Spacek task? Because she starred in the movie "Carrie" and he wrote the book it was based on? Please be patient - I'm slow today. It has been sitting on the corner of my desk (in all the installments) for about 5 years.

Yes, you may. You can also use The Green Mile for Tim Curry since he acted in It by Stephen King.

I reviewed some of my actor tasks last night and made some adjustments. I'm going to read The Cuckoo's Calling for John Hurt because he acted in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - both written by J.K. Rowlings.

message 1061: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19316 comments Could I use Pottermore Presents by J.K. Rowling for Tim Curry. I think it's technically a three book series, but it's listed as a grouping and can be bought as a set here. Individually the books would be too short.

message 1062: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19316 comments Also, Janice, could you just confirm if this is a good enough profile? I know you said it could be further away (versus a close up), but I just messed up a cover, so I'd feel better with confirmation.

The View on the Way Down by Rebecca Wait

J.K. Rowlings is also Robert Galbraith? I think I may have known that.

An omnibus or anthology of short stories will count for any task long as you read the entire thing.

No idea why I wrote Tim Curry. I think just because he was mentioned above. I have it tagged for Ralph Fiennes.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Hi Janice,

For the 1977 to 2000 task, does the book have to be set completely between these dates? I read a book over the weekend that starts in June 1977. It is almost all set in 1977, but there are a few chapters in 1927 that introduces a major character that will tie in with the story set in 1977. Will this fit or no, because of the 1927 chapters?

Nice! Coincidentally, I'm listening to the oldest book on my TBR list - alas, it doesn't fit the ZZ challenge, but nevertheless, I'm also excited about it falling off my list. It's a good listen too.

I did that last week as well. Not sure if it was the oldest on my tbr, but for sure the oldest paper book I own.

I just checked and I shelved (and bought) it in June 2014. It did feel very good to get it out of the way!

message 1087: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments OMG! I think I just had a major revelation with a book that I had planned for this challenge since the beginning of the year but for another task. I need to double check though.

Would this teapot on Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt work for "Symbol - Water-bearer
Read a book that has an urn, jug, or other vessel used for holding water. (Glasses, cups, mugs are accepted)"?

Good luck on getting those off your list, Cherie. I have about 40 from 2013 hoping to wean hem off my list - there are some great ones there. The Red Tent is now the oldest - I think I'm the only one who hasn't read it!

message 1093: by Kristie, Moderator (new)
