Yea! Thanks!

Sunshine✰✰✰ When I finish Badge One and start on Badge Two, can I use books already read during the year? Or for Badge Two I can only use books starting after the last book read for Badge One?

message 1003: by Sandra, Moderator (last edited Jun 22, 2018 06:54AM) (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11295 comments You can use books you read before you completed Badge One as long as you read them after you joined the challenge.
Many of us have been reporting in our own threads books for Badge Two, so we do not forget about them.

message 1004: by Sunshine✰✰✰ (new)

Sunshine✰✰✰ Great! Thank you.

I keep track of my challenges on spreadsheets, so I have already been keeping track of Badge Two, just didn't think to post in my thread. I should do that since I'm already half done. :-D

If you log them out of order on your thread, just do something like this;

******************OUT OF ORDER********************
Badge2, Book 1
Task:...

Sandra (sanlema) | 11295 comments Yeah. That makes things easier for Janice.

By all means, do go ahead and report the books you've read.

Janice (jamasc) | 60069 comments Are there any Goodreads librarians in the group? If so, could you look into this message? There appears to be an error in the page length listed on Goodreads. Thanks!

message 1009: by Rusalka, Moderator (last edited Jun 24, 2018 08:11AM) (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments I've been looking into it, and there seems to be two page numbers linked to the same two ISBNs (both the 10 and the 13 digit ones). I've seen the 293 pages Jayme read (see https://www.amazon.com/Rust-Julie-Mar...), but a 160 page for the same ISBNs (see https://www.bookdepository.com/Rust-J...)

Other more experienced Librarians may know what to do with this kind of discrepancy?

message 1010: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60069 comments Thanks Rusalka. Could you post something in the Librarian's group to that effect?

message 1011: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments No worries, will do. Wasn't sure if there were any other librarians here, but I will get it sorted with the main group.

Jayme | 4568 comments Hi Janice - I am currently reading The Tin Ticket: The Heroic Journey of Australia's Convict Women for my face-to-face book club and I think it will fit for Scorpio -NAZ - read a book set in Australia. My concern is that the first 100 pages explains the lives of 3 girls/women in Great Britain and the circumstances surrounding how they became convicts and were sent to Australia- so that part is set in Great Britain. The rest of the book (252 pages) is what happens to them once they reach Australia. Will that work, or should the entire book be set in Australia? Thanks for your help.

message 1020: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19316 comments Janice, does this cover count as significant water? Most of the cover is water, but it isn't a large body of water. Dark Water (DCI Erika Foster, #3) by Robert Bryndza

message 1021: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19221 comments Although a body IN water

message 1022: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11295 comments lol

message 1023: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19316 comments lol true! I actually just realized I was going to use it for a different task anyway. "water" in the title, so I don't really need a ruling. :)

Kristie | 19316 comments I am updating all my challenges with the books I've read over the past couple months and for the toppler, so now I need to remember what I read them for. lol

I will come back with another question though... For, Aries - Symbol: Ram - Read a book where a truck is on the cover or the protagonist drives a truck. I read a book with several main characters. One of them drove a truck. I wouldn't call her "the" main character, but she was certainly an important character to the story and one of 5 central characters. Would she count? A couple of scenes took place in her truck.

It sounds like the truck was a significant "character", so I'll accept it.

Marie Claude (mariecg2001) | 1030 comments Would The Last Town on Earth work for the Salmon category (Read a book that is set in the Pacific Northwest (coastal Oregon, Washington, British Columbia))? The exact setting is not written on the main page for the book. But the second paragraph of the description begins with "Deep in the mist-shrouded forests of the Pacific Northwest is a small mill town called Commonwealth, conceived as a haven for workers weary of exploitation."

That sounds like it meets the criteria exactly. It sounds like it would work for the Taurus, Jasper task too because it's about the flu epidemic.

message 1030: by Marie Claude (new)

Marie Claude (mariecg2001) | 1030 comments I don't know if it has already been asked, but if it has, I'm sorry...

I would like to know whether, for the author categories. we can use a book written by the same author of the book on which the movie was based, but written under another pseudonym...

For example, Ralph Fiennes has played in the Harry Potter movies. J.K. Rowling has also written the Cormoran Strike series under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. So, can I use a book from that series for the Ralph Fiennes category?

Yes, you may read a book written by the author using a pen name. Make sure you explain the connection when you report the task as completed.

message 1038: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 2653 comments I've read 2 books for this challenge, but I can't add them in the Zodiac Challenge.
I've added them in the GR - Challeng and that worked. What am I doing wrong?

message 1039: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Saar, I think it will be fixed if you make a new shelf and name it something like Zodiac Challenge and add those books to the shelf (including date read). On the YLTO homepage at the top, there's a note about the challenge and I think there you can link to the new shelf you created. I'm not sure if that's exactly how it works as I have my shelf there but because it's there already, I can't see anymore how I did it.

message 1040: by Saar The Book owl (last edited Jul 20, 2018 04:32AM) (new)

Saar The Book owl | 2653 comments My shelf allready existed, but it doens't work. I did exactly like you told, but it won't work.

message 1041: by Saar The Book owl (last edited Jul 20, 2018 04:53AM) (new)

Saar The Book owl | 2653 comments It's fixed: I deleted my challenge and made a new shelf. The old one was set on 84 books and I made a new one for 12.
Maybe it was because I'm so far behind with my books.

Lori Z | 2091 comments Does this cover have enough of a truck on it to count for Aries/Symbol? Louisiana Saves the Library by Emily Beck Cogburn
If not, anyone have any suggestions for that category?

message 1047: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Don't know if it's enough truck Lori, but in case you need another book with a truck, Trouble in Mudbug is a free ebook today (for Kobo at least, haven't checked Kindle).

message 1048: by Lori Z (new)

Lori Z | 2091 comments Thank you so much, Peggy! I've been picturing this cover in my head but couldn't remember the title. And yes, it's free on Kindle today, just picked it up! Thanks again!

Can I report Badge 2 books that are part of the second round of 12, if I've not completed the first round of 12, to equal 24 total?

Thanks!
