Agree with Lanelle. Some times the sub-genres are much more accessible to us non-Sci Fi readers, than what we think "Sci Fi" is. I cannot believe this was 5 years ago, but have a look at this challenge to get you thinking https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Not all books will be categorised as sci-fi, but gets you thinking outside the usual box. It's a massive genre, which i think there is something that appeals to everyone, you just may not have found it yet.

Thanks for the link Rus!

I have this on my TBR list. I will be interested in your views. A few others in the group have read it already.

Sorry, but I don't see a significant amount of clouds, just a couple of itty bitty, but happy, clouds.

there's a big one, but it is pale. That's ok. I will just live with having a book I can't use for the challenge.....

Are those clouds, or mist rising off the water? I can't tell what they are. Sorry.

I know that was my problem too. Have a great day.

It's not exactly a profile since the face is tilted forward, but I see that I allowed a similar face, so I will this time too.

SUPERHERO: cannonball
Read a book about the American Civil War, or about the Napoleonic War.
I was just about to write it up when I wondered would it be acceptable . It is set during the napolionic wars but not in this universe lol

I will accept it because Bonaparte is a character (albeit absent). It's alternative history with dragons.

damn, that was my choice too! Thanks for asking about it Cherie - I didn't even realize that the movie wasn't out - I just picked it off the list. Now I know to wait until November to read it :)

Cool - in that case I'll be claiming badge 2 later 😁

Yes, that will work. :)

It sounds like a good story, Sandra. I have not added it to my TBR list yet, but the reviews look pretty good.

It's the time frame that I'm looking for.

Awesome, thanks Janice :-)

Sorry again, and thank you.

Each person participating in this challenge has to do her/his own thread to track and organize their reading. The way you do your own thread is the following:
-Go to this folder: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
-Click in the "new topic" link (upper right corner, above the "last activity" title)
-Chose a title for your thread, and write it in the "topic: box.
-When you write and post the first comment the thread will actually start existing.
-Use the thread to report each book you read toward the challenge. Also you can use it for planning, brain storming, or whatever is useful for you.
-You can take a look at other people's threads in that folder to have an idea of what we are doing.
In the main thread of the Challenge you will find the tips for how to report each book in your thread.
When you have complete the challenge you will need to use the "Reporting" thread (also in the folder) to let Janice know you are done and what you read.
All of this will make more sense once you take a look at the different threads there.

Yes, that book will work for that task. Welcome to YLTO and to the challenge. It looks like Sandra has given you good instructions on how to set up your personal thread.
Please read the official Year Long Challenge post - here . This will explain all the rules and how to report.

I'm going to rule no. That's ice on the cover. Sorry.
