Roz - the question about possessives was asked in message 57 and answered in message 64. Yes, the possessive is okay.

Haden's syndrome was caused by a mutated virus, which is an illness, so, I believe it is okay. I am looking forward to reading/listening to the 2nd book!

Dystopia is a noun. Dystopian is the adjective for that noun. Any book that lists "dystopia" on the genre is dystopian.

It looks black to me, and when I used Tineye, it said 63.5% "Black rock" (blue). I'd give that a benefit of a doubt and call it black, but it's not enough. Too bad the white title is so big. Sorry Lilisa.

That's interesting Janice, since the percentages I listed were from Tineye. But this isn't the first time I see different percentages and colors when different persons run the same cover through Tineye. Wonder why that happens.

When I gophered, I put Ready Player One down for the stand alone SF task. It was a stand alone then, but now it says on the book page that it's part of a series. However, the second book in the series appears to be nowhere near being published. Would it still qualify for the task?

I think this question came up about The Host. I can't remember the answer now. I think though because it's an intended series it wasn't allowed but i could be wrong. I can't remember whose thread it was this came up in now.

No, I haven't. To be honest I'm not very interested in SF, but I wanted to know what the fuss about Ready Player One was about and it was shelved as SF, so I slotted it in. I can't do more than Badge 2 anyway and I have some other books for other tasks, so I'll just focus on those :)

Have you read Flowers for Algernon Peggy? It is completely earth based and I think you might like it! You've probably read it though 😉

I agree with Sarah and Margo. I loved both, The Martian and Flowers for Algernon, and I am not a science fiction reader myself. There is much more in both books. They are different, though. While TM is very humorous, FFA is touching and thought provoking. I think you would like any of them, Peggy, if you decided to go with the task.

If either of you decide to go with The Martian, I do not recommend the audio. There is a lot of math in the story, which I found boring and it pulled me out of the story. Unfortunately, you can't skim those parts with the audio. I wasn't a fan.
