CassandraComplex | 7 comments It was about a teenage boy who would run away from home a lot and ran away to another country on a whim. So his parents have him committed. Or he gets into trouble with the law and he gets committed.

I'm not sure if it was a psychiatric hospital or a juvenile prison or a military school. I just remember that they're forced to take the same medication and they're forced to work. At the place he meets two other guys. One of them got in there because they like to wear women's clothing and would punch people for making fun of them.

The three of them try various ways not to take the pill because they don't like the way it makes them feel. Somehow they're allowed to go on a trip and they help kids with special needs, the main guy helps a kid who is obsessed with locks amd he would repeatedly open and close the locks. He also meets a girl he falls in love with.

At the institution there's a Nurse Ratched type character that the main guys keeps butting head with. I don't remember the rest of the book but the main guy ends up leaving the place and is living with the girl and he tries to bring attention to the drug and how bad it was for him to take it.

The main focus of the book is about the drug. I read it because it was being compared to One flew over the cuckoo's nest on the review of the blurb. I feel like the book was set in the uk and the author is also british. But I'm not 100% sure about this.

Please help me. I've been searching for this book for ages. I read it in high school around 2007ish.

Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford turned up while searching, but attempted suicide was a key issue.

CassandraComplex | 7 comments I think it was a yellow cover with pills on it.

CassandraComplex | 7 comments And unfortunately that's not the book. They're staying in a place for delinquents.

CassandraComplex | 7 comments Yes! That's the book. Thank you so much. I'm so happy to have found it.
