SOLVED. Childrens book where a girl is babysitting a baby named Doe for a man and finds out the baby was kidnapped. [s]

I read this book sometime between 1991 and 1996. My best guess is that it came from a Scholastic book order form. I remember the girl having to hide in a closet crawl space with the baby, and that they were hiding from the man she thought was the baby's dad.
