New beginnings and a celebration of the capricious nature of the fantasy community.

That is level-up commitment lol.

message 7: by Beste (new)

Beste | 1163 comments @Siobhan I wish to reach that level but I start failing at the planning first. Especially after Mistborn. I liked the books I read afterwards but I didn't find them satisfying. thats how much it sucked my emotions. I want to read Stormlight Archive now but worried about the aftereffects.

I've been reading Oathbringer for 8 days now... 50 pages left... I don't even know how far behind I've fallen on other reading this month anymore...

message 13: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8703 comments Don't you worry Iain, sounds like Oathbringer has been worth it?? :)

Oh it has... was a great book... but I've only finished 5-6 books this month... and the month is almost over already... oh well... at least I've managed to keep up with most of my Buddy Reads...

message 15: by Chris (new)

Chris (murphy44) | 710 comments Finishing 5 or 6 books a month for me is a great month, of course I don't do audio though!

5-6 is nothing to sneeze at, I know... but the last 6 months I've been managing 15-18 pretty steadily... so it's a sharp decline...

Oathbringer is the size of like 10 normal books though... XD
5 or 6 is a good month for me too.

Saul the Heir of Isauldur (krinnok) | 209 comments Well, finally somewhere to let the world know how stupid I am. You see, there's a thread called "The Dispossessed by Ursula K. LeGuin," and I always seemed to skip over the word "by." So, I always imagined it was some thread discussing the author herself who was, I guess, Dispossessed, whatever that meant. Even worse, I never clicked on the thread to see what it was about

idiffer | 765 comments I misread things constantly. I also finish people's centences in funny ways before they finish them.
So I follow a person NMmomof4. And only today I realised that her nickname has a sentence in it "mom of four" and that I've been calling her momford in my head.

Saul the Heir of Isauldur (krinnok) | 209 comments @Siobhan When I finally saw the physical book at the bookstore and saw that it was titled "The Dispossessed," it hit me: it's a book!

Sure did. I still haven't a clue what the book is about, but I know it's a book. That's got to count for something. Improvement!

Beste | 1163 comments What to read on a 11.5 hrs flight?
Fahrenheit 451
The Cruelty
King of Thorns
The Dispossessed (@Saul thanks for reminding:)
or Brave New World ?

message 37: by Siobhan (new)

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8703 comments First off, where you going?! :)
Second, I haven't read any of them, but they all sound awesome. I vote The Dispossessed... XD

message 38: by Beste (new)

Beste | 1163 comments İstanbul-Newyork, then Montreal then back to İstanbul; only in 5 days. I will try to beat the jetlag with reading. I don't think it will help to second jetlag though. I might sleep for 2 3 days when I get back :))

St Catherine Street is the place to go shopping. Most interesting shops are there or close by. There you will find the bigger stores, so it is great for window shopping. For smaller local shops you will want to check the Plateau neighbourhood, a good starting point is the metro Mont Royal.

Avoid driving in Montreal. The city has an insane amount of road work going on, so traffic is insane.

I lived around Montreal for seven years. I just moved to another province this year. :)
