message 1: by Greg (new)

Greg | 201 comments Just finished reading Perdido Street Station, which was a solid, four-star, read for me! Earlier in the month, I read a short collection of graphic short fiction themed for Halloween: The Best of Tharg's Terror Tales.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I'm currently re-reading Full Dark, No Stars for my bookclub. I really enjoy this collection. :D

YES!!! I am unfortunately still re-reading... Only about 15% into Words of Radiance. I hope to catch up soon though so we can discuss! <3

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments In addition to Words of Radiance, I'm also listening to A Plague of Giants on my commute. It's pretty good! I love Luke Daniels.

And then there is my guilty pleasure, the book I read when I want to read but don't feel like really trying... Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny. I don't know why I picked it up. I was curious! It's just like trashy reality TV. My favorite. #basicandproud

Now please excuse me while I throw on my black leggings and UGG's for a Starbucks run! :-D

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments You should catch me, Dawn. I don't read nearly as fast as I did before college and young grandbabies :)

I don't know about that! I go to bed at like 9pm with the intent of reading, and usually wake up in the morning with my glasses still on, on the same page I started on, with the definition of "the" popped up on my Kindle :-)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Hehe...sounds cool.

I ended up not needing a reread, since I waited until January to read WoR. (Don't judge me)

Just finished Edgedancer yesterday

message 9: by Laurie (new)

Laurie (lauriemarie8) Perdido Street Station! Which I’m enjoying so much and next... perhaps Alias Grace by Atwood :)

They have good reason to be freaking out! LOL

Just dipping into some short fiction at the moment before I settle into another book.

message 17: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments This month I've read 15 short stories from 3 of the 6 Flirts! Collections and made a failed attempt at Peter Pan: The Complete Adventures.

I'm now preparing for my final exams next week, so unless I decide to try to sneak another set of short stories in, I'm probably done for the month.

message 18: by Thaddeus (new)

Thaddeus White | 69 comments I'm reading The Alexiad, about 4/5 into it, and Angel's Deceit, the second book in the Angelwar Trilogy.

I like Anna Komnene's personal writing style in The Alexiad (at one point she describes a man, I think it was the Pope, acting like a demi-god dealing with a demi-ass), and the notes are invaluable given her penchant for tangents and writing events out of order.

Grimmelhaus' fantasy is engaging and easy to read. I like the premise but a little more pace early on would've been good.
