Hello everyone, I just finished reading a selection of Rosamund Pilchers books. They reminded me about some books I read (and reread) ages ago. They were romances, but as I remember them, the women in it were much more witty and intelligent as the ones in those books I just finished. I don't have much to go on. There were four books of this author in the library in our village (in the Netherlands, it had quite a good English section). The stories were independent of each other, but main characters could reappear as side stories or distant relatives. Music played important part in all of them. I even think the titles contained musical terms like "Allegro" or something like that. Some were located in England, but at least one of them was (partly?) in the Mediterranian. The period must have been 20th century. I read them in the 80's, but they could have been older. The most specific thing I remember that in one of the books there was a lady who's occupation was building cello's, and she was reknowned for the way she sculptered the head of her cello's.
Not much to go on really, but I am hoping someone recognises this and knows which author I am talking about. I would love to see if they are still as good as I remember them!
