No one open!!!
I can hear Ruby talking, and Ciaran replying, but I don't understand what they're saying. Contact my Father. Yeah, right. I don't have a death wish. Someone is talking to me. "Sorry, what were you saying?"
"I asked if you were feeling all right." Ciaran repeats. "You haven't said a word since your friend made you leave, and your face is ghostly white."
"It's just... I don't trust that woman. She... She reminds me of Alecto."
"Ah..."
"And, well I-AH!" I gasp. Then scream. Then faint.

i hear the scream before mae does. i run outside to see maj sprawled on the floor! "what the...what in the name of zeus happened. why did she scream" i turn to ruby excpectantly
"I am alone. Now, tell me where they are."
"They are at the top of the gods realm." I waited for more, but she gestured me forward. "Every step is a new piece of knowledge, now, advance." I did. I stepped forward, and tried to hide my horrified face. She continued. "They are at the end of their power." I stepped forward, just two feet from her reach. "The west the east collide." I was so eager to know, I took a larger step that I had previously. "And that is were you'll find." she finished. She stood, and bared her fangs at amazing speed. She let out a blood chilling hiss before lunging at me, mouth open. I slid to the side, watching her fail at the attack. But she was quick to recover. She did a lightning fast attack, this time my dodge wasn't that lucky. I didn't get a full on bite, but her fangs nicked my bare arm. A trickle of blood dribbled down and dripped off my elbow.
"Not. Cool." I growl. I planted a round-house in her chest, her falling backwards from the force. I dashed for the door, hoping her leash would restraint her. I leaped into the hall and crashed on to the floor. I kicked the door closed, getting a glimpse of the creatures raging eyes before the door slammed shut. I took a deep breath.
"Well... that happened." I muttered to myself. I pulled my shirt sleeve down to cover the scratch from sight. I wondered off to find my friends.

"i heard thuds. What the Mae...i missed the fun...was she viscous...oh so help me...did you wrestle her to the ground and rip her teeth out"
"No, why would I rip her teeth out? I got the information, then bolted. That lady put the 'freak' in 'freaky'." I told Zaynah. I causally moved my hand up to my wound, covering every evidence it was there.
I wasnt fooled. "mae you doofus. You hurt yourself. I leave you alone for a minute Nd " i iled her sleeve up and saw cut. I reached to my thigh strap and pulled outva small flask with a green thick ointment in it. I rub it gently into maes arm. "its for my wound but you need it more right now" i put the flask back and drop hervarm. " so r u planning to tell us what she said or do i have to use my yet to come psychich powers". Mae smirks
"It was in riddles. Of course. She said, 'They are at the top of the gods realm. They are at the end of their power. The west the east collide. And that is were you'll find.' I am trying to figure it out, but I can't put my finger on it."
Ok so our loEd ones are in olympus. The west east so thats rome and greece
I tapped my finger on my chin. "Hmmmm. They are at the end of their power... Perhaps the gods?"
"Well... the god's realm is Earth, right? At the top means the North Pole, because thats the highest up it goes. The end of their power could mean the same thing. The edge of there strength would be the South Pole. The west and the east collide, meaning they run together. Ruby, could you pop up a globe for me, real quick?" she does, snapping her fingers and a globe appears, hovering in front of me. I put one finger at the very top, then one on the bottom. I trace my fingers so they intercept in the middle. I lift my hands and place one finger on the left and the right of the globe and do the same. They both intercept in the same place the North and South had. "I think we are going to the center of the Earth!"
really. wow ...AJ Journey tot he centre of the earth reencament!!! greet...you think well meet some dinosoars" i say sarcastically!
"I can get us to a volcano that is believed to get us very, very deep in the Earth. But some shadow travel is needed. Its in Hawaii. Who's ready for a tropical vacation!"
my wound tuggs at me my i ignored it..."well what are we waiting for...lets go peoples"
"We can't. We're to late." I say while tears start to form in my eyes. "Kat, she... She..."
"Maj...what the hell...what are you saying" i shake her shoulders and her tears soak my sleeve. immediately tears form in my eyes..."da...dan....daniel....is he ok"
"goddamnit maj whats going on"
I try to steady my voice. "Kat just entered the fields of Asphodel. I can feel it. She... She... She's dead. B-b-but I don't know if... If... If Daniel is OK."
I slap my fore head then through my hands in the air. "The days! We forgot the prophecy's week dead line! Oh no, I have no idea how long we have been here! We were only on day three before we came here! Who knows how long we were captured!" I exclaim. I start pacing and thinking of the possibilities. I stop pacing and face Maj. "Maj, did your father confirm their death, or did he say they were in the Underworld?"
i close my eyes and hear a voice in my mind. "fire. earth. sleep. underworld..." i open my eyes. "there not dead. their in the underworld. their...their asleep!
"He doesn't take my calls. The last time I talked to him... it was only because I accepted my birthright." I try to wipe my tears, but more keep coming. "You wouldn't understand, but I know she's dead."
"may your being so adamnet. think optomistic! Mae, maj we need to get going. "
"Yes!" I pump my fist in the air in victory. I did a little victory dance, then I looked over to see people giving me some weird looks. I clear my throat and straighten. "Well, you guys now my theory of the center of the Earth, right? I think our enemies are moving our loved ones there through the Underworld. They enchanted them or something to make them sleep, so they would fit in with the dead crowd." I explain. I gesture to Maj. "And possibly mess up your senses." I turn back to the rest."So... if we beat them there by going through the volcano, we can catch them by surprise and get Kat and Daniel back! But, I think we have a day maximum to do it."
"well...captain obvious...LETS GO" i say emphaising on the last 2 words stretchign out each sylable
"OK. I need you to shadow travel us back to the Rockies where this all started. We can use my carriage to get to Hawaii."
"koolio...ummm...maj i'll need your help"...maj gives me a mock smile and grabs my hand from my pocket. i grab ma'es and mar grabs ruby. i picture the rockies, the pale sky, the sound of the close by waterfall...2 the familiar claustrophobic sense took aver. suddenly a jerk pulled and my grip loosened on maj's. our feet hit the floor and my ankle twisted beneath me. i fell tot he floor and my shins smacked on the hard rocky floor. i heard mae voice behind me. i gagged and my head spun. "what the..." my voice cut of as i fell my stomach twist and my wound tugged. the venom was kicking in. i clutched at my stomach and panted.
"Zaynah! Zaynah!" I call, trying to sit up. I see a dark figure near by, but its hard to make out with it all so blurry. I tried crawling, but my arm gave out. I winced, but kept going. I came over to Zaynah and examined the problem. Her wound seemed to be swelling rapidly, the strange color returning. She was moaning and her eyes were closed. "I-I uh... I don't know what to do! I never needed to cure this kind of thing! Aw, Zaynah! Just breathe, it will be alright." I put my hand over her heart, checking her heart rate. Really quick, then really slow. "Zaynah? Can you hear me?"
"I...I...I can hea...." i scream suddenly. "ooooow!...Mae...help" mae my thigh strap....the remedy i put on your scratch...i need it...the doctor said this will happen from now on...humans don't react well to..."
"Yeah. No one really reacts well to snake venom." I reach for her thigh strap and jiggle out a little container. It was empty, with a crack at the bottom. "Zaynah, there is nothing in here!" I shriek.
"shit...mae....what do i do" i shriek out again. the pain was blinding. my eyes glazed and my head spun. "mae...do something please"
"You're not dying." I say. "Or at least not fast. You still glow brightly."
"wow maj...thanks! now, i want to continue glowing till im about 60, 70...so..." my voice breaks, my head lolls to the side and i faint.
"Yeah," I say absent mindedly. "Two questions. Where are we, and why are we here?"
"who cares" i mumble slightly delirious!
"Well, I do. Because if it weren't for you guys, I'd be in Asphodel, checking up on Kat." I say Or planning how to get my girls to the castle, and arranging to stay there forever. It would be a great place for them to grow up. I think.
"maj...we all care about them...i want daniel back too...i want to be in Asphodel to make sure daniel's ok...and how in the name of my dad...well...dads...is this my fault MAJ" I try to stand but fall.
I put a hand to Zaynah's arm and she collapsed back to the floor. I wiped my forehead nervously and said, "M-maybe I can pop up some of that medicine, I just need to know where I can find it... and what it looks like... Sorry that's how my magic works..."
To myself I thought nervously of how our group was breaking up, and suddenly I realized something. "Wait!" I shout, holding up my hands. "Stop it! Do you hear yourselves? We can't fight like this! We're supposed to be a team, remember? It's the gods! They are testing us! Our ability to withstand pressure, strength, and teamwork!"
"Yes. We are a team, with a weakened member. You need to rest. Here." I take out my dagger and slice a small scratch on my arm. I take Zaynah's empty bottle and put two drops of blood in it. Then I crushed up some of the sage root I had in my pocket and sprinkle it in. I force it into Zaynah's mouth and she instantly starts to recover. "My blood is immune to snake venom. I work on it for years in the woods, scared that if I didn't I would die of snake venom. It was perfected about a year ago. Now that its in your system, you are also temperamentally immune. Should last about 6 hours. And for that time, my immunity will be weakened. But, its better you than me."
"When did I say I blamed you?" I yell. "I just... Just..." I run into the first shadow I can find, vanishing from sight.
"MAE...SOMETIMES you can be such a..." i trail off. my wound twsits and i gasp as the venom's power is released. it courses through my body and life is brought back to my aching body. i stand up stilla little unsteady on my feet and smile at mae and ruby. "i yell back at maj... "Because if it weren't for you guys, I'd be in Asphodel, checking up on Kat...does that sound famialir to you maj!"
I looked nervously from Zaynah to where Maj had shadowtraveled away. "Um..." I said. Then after no one said anything, I ran to the spot she had dissappeared and concentrated. As a puff of smoke, I raced away to whereever Maj had gone. I had some idea where.
The crowds part for me. Like the people know that I want to get through. And who I'm looking for.She is sitting. Next to a boy. They look happy. I look closer, and recognise Joshua. He lived with us for 3 months, before his dad came to collect him. 2 days later they came to tell that he had died in a car crash.
She looks up, and starts to smile as soon as she sees me. What am I supposed to do know? I want to ask her so many questions for her. Why did I come here? Why did I go looking for her?
I grimace. I can't smile. Not to her. She means nothing to me. She is not my mom.
I SCREAM..."MAJ...IM SORRY COME BACK...RUBY WHERE THE OLYMPUS ARE YOU TWO"
I walk away. "Show me who I am looking for, not the one you wanted me to find." I say to no-one in particular. The crowds part again. This time I do smile. And cry. Because she was not supposed to be here. She is supposed to be alive. To live her life to the fullest. But before I can go to her, to tell her that I'm sorry. To tell her I never wanted this for her, I feel someone's hand on my arm. "What the- Ruby? What are you doing here?" I say. "How did you find me?" I look at her hand on my arm. "Let me go. I want to talk to her!"
I looked into her eyes for a long time, then nodded slowly. I let go and she stumbled away. I sat down on a nearby rock and let her be.

I put a hand on Maj's arm to silence her, the blue ribbons on my wrists blowing in an unseen breeze. Beautiful, yet deadly. I nodded to Mae and led Zaynah and Maj away and back to the steps. I crouched down and sat on the top step with my grey jeaned legs stretched out in front of me. I was wearing a blue t-shirt and a gray sweatshirt. My hair was tied up in a high ponytail and my eyes had the usual fierceness in them, but this time they were concerned too. "I'm worried for Mae, just like the rest of you, you know." I said, looking out to the sea in the distance. "But, this time I think Mae knows what she's doing."
