Shaitarn | 2185 comments Hey Zaara - nice to hear from you! You know, I never thought about putting up a thread for general chat (I suppose I'm just not very sociable!), but you can contact me here, no problem, or PM me if you like. I'm always happy to hear from you (and I do mean that!)

I really wish I hadn't heard about MZB - I liked her books when I was younger (not Mists so much, but I loved her book about Kassandra of Troy - I still have it somewhere) but now I'm not sure I want to read them for a long while. BTW, the publisher is donating their money from sales of those books to a child's charity, so try not to feel too bad about buying them.

Thank you for the picture (and the dragongal tag - I like dragons, who doesn't? :)). My birthday is at the beginning of December (2nd, to be exact), but I hate people making a big thing about it. Just an odd quirk of mine.

Zaara | 4273 comments Ok Shai...no fuss...I'll remember.
+ I see you now have a tracker...
I'll be reading Avalon...cuz I already bought the books, like I said...but m sure glad the money went to charity.

message 6: by Shaitarn (new)

Shaitarn | 2185 comments Yeah; I've already said 'yes' to so many reads this year I need that tracker!

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8702 comments Good luck, Shaitarn!

I might start a names one too, it's a great idea. Along with Scott's new non-fantasy one, we're gonna be all challenged out! XD

message 11: by Shaitarn (new)

Shaitarn | 2185 comments I can imagine us all slumped down in exhaustion on 31st December, surrounded by piles of the books we've forced ourselves to read!

Hahaha. But we'll feel so accomplished! :)

message 13: by Zaara (new)

Zaara | 4273 comments Hey.
Here's a cinnamnon vanilla latté for you and/or (if you're a tea person) some sexy autumnal chai. I also brung soup so your dragon avatar is all set for an entire day in virtual reality...
😂😂😂
(view spoiler)

Thanks for yesterday's generous words and solidarity. I was (secretly) very touched but also having the sudden heated *blush*...haha!
So I got flustered and was flippant; accepted your compliments with an ill grace.
But actually it counts MORE coming from you because you don't waste words much, do you Shai?

message 14: by Shaitarn (new)

Shaitarn | 2185 comments @ Zaara You know something? I also get awkward and embarrassed about things like this, so often don't respond until far too late, when the other person's already written me off as rude.

Thank you for the treats, which are needed right now (so cold!); I don't like coffee, but I love tea (yes, I'm a British stereotype) and the soup looks lovely.

Before I forget, Virginie and I are planning to read The Golden Key in February, so if there's a time that month that suits you then let us know and I'll ask the mods to put a thread up.

message 15: by Shaitarn (new)

Shaitarn | 2185 comments Five weeks of the year left to finish my A - Z. That's doable. Totally doable *looks at buddy reads and chews fingernails*.

No worries, Shai.
I spend so much of my time being a horrific social spaz that I'd never judge on anyone + I do not think you are rude at all.

I think you are extremely genuine and non-fuss and unostentatiously classy and make me conscious of the difference between gilt and gold.

Unfortunately I don't own the book...and have had to let my loan copy go, naturally...and I'd already hung onto it for more than three months without ever doing more than diddle thru a few pages...and what I saw seemed interesting. Why don't you and Virginie just carry on and set a date that's suitable for you both and I'll see if I can organise a copy and make it around that time in Feb?
Thanks for remembering me tho, Shaitarn and all the best + many many MANY good wishes for a productive writing year. O and I know you don't like a big fuss...so I won't make one but happy belated. Hope you got the books and presemts you wanted, you!

:-)))
