And I also love the additional drawings and articles, my favourite so far is the drawimg of the skyeels.

Can't answer your question on Chapter 23, but you will learn soon :( I also like Dalinar, but I'm honestly not so much head over heels π (view spoiler)

:-("
For me, what can I say? I f-ing loved this! And after so many thing explained at the last chapters and so many mystery that the book dropped on us I can't find to something to talk about :)
You guys have cool unite them theories I wonder which of it will come true...
Zaara wrote: "please won't you come and chat with me for a bit?"
Work hours man :/ And like you said timezone makes it hard, its like morning there in US

what to do, Jorg made a bad impression on me within first few chapters... ;P:P and one book doesn't (specially Jorg) tells us that our tastes are sooooo different. ;) also you can bond over Jorg with my buddy, I know you both will give each other a tough competition while writing essays about him. ;);):D
P.S: I did check GoTM rating on your shelf. it's still to be read and that will seal our fate.

Where is this comment of Lena's? Why can't I see it?
#blindman
Ok...opening all the spoilers now.

@Sedat...yea its a genuine thing! I had this problem when I started...there was so much to absorb that I didn't know what to comment on. Grew outta that fairly quickly π although that's bcuz so many ppl in this group love/ actively comment on Sanderson

Re Jorg...(view spoiler)
Gardens of the Moon, I did finish Manu. I just stopped rating and reviewing books ages ago.

@SSSSSSSIOBHAAAAAAAAN is it to be the Parseltongue again?

Thks you.
ππ at your Kaladin comment...its wonderful to have a contrarian viewpoint on the thread btw.
Tell me all the things you are liking abt this book. Mebbe it will motivate you...
πππ

I caved, Anni. After I saw this, I immediately looked at ALL the illustrations. DONT DO IT.

Re Jorg, this is what I've tried to explain to outraged people! But like you said, different trigger levels and all. I like grimdark.

I can't remember what chapter number part one ended at, I'll check my book when I get a chance.
And Sanderson basically says, that it would seem obvious to split the book at the end of part 2 or 3, but he didn't think the end of the parts gave a satisfactory ending. So he chose to end it after two chapters that were the culmination of storylines for the characters. It felt like something had come to a head you know. I'll check which ones it was. :)

THE TOTALLY OBLIGATORY (NON-PLOT SPOILERS) Way of Kings HECKLE
SANDERSON FAN-ATICS GO AWAY, YOU!

I enjoy Jasnah and Navani, and to a lesser extent Shallan, because they are smart confident women who use their talents and education to break from their given molds; they fight for what they decide is important. They feel real. Many fantasy heroines are absurd. Sensible women who in two hundred pages are suddenly sultry warriors with no training, heaps of luck, moral outrage and a pout. The stories where the heroine is described as plucky.
Just try calling Jasnah plucky...

I wouldnβt.
Szeth I love reading about because he is a genuine badass. That combined with a shocking adherence to cultural norms well outside his home land (view spoiler) make him highly readable.
Then thereβs Wit, or Hoid, who is funny, sarcastic, irreverent, and keenly intelligent.

I always feel he knows the end of the story already and is just trying to scoot it along a little differently this time. Like the whole thing is The Dark Tower Cycle and heβs leading Roland to the horn.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

re Jorg (view spoiler)
hmpf! at least rate, gal! what if i reco'ed you something and you to tell me in return that you have already read it? :P:P

I'm here :)
I don't know what to say, everything has been discussed but;
I suppose I'm too attached to Kaladin's POV that I don't know if I will enjoy the next book from someone else's POV. The length and the depth of the book convinces me that theres more about others too but I'm more curious how Kaladin will evolve.

Didn't read all the spoilers and can't remember the specifics of each chapters.
Now, please don't hate me people but... My least favorite POV is Dalinar :p I remember being annoyed by his... righteousness.
My favorite is Shallan. Jasnah and her are such strong women in their own ways. Jasnah is my role model :o
I remember a particular scene (thugs attacking her in a street) where Jasnah adresses the topic of victim blaming and shows Shallan how her reactions are warped by social conventions.
@Zaara: note the little problem Shallan seems to have with her memories... Remind you of someone? Understand why I love her POV so much now? ;) ;) ;)
About the racism in this book... I was shocked about the casualness of it when I read the book. Also, I would be so fucked in this world because I'm a woman and:
- left-handed
- hate sweet food (except chocolate :p)
- have dark eyes
- can't do anything artistic to save my life
The only good aspect is that women get the reading :D

I'd forgotten that part. That's not good :/

Well @Siobhan I'm thru Ch 43 now and yeah its coming toward that...the threads are converging in that the (view spoiler)
@Virginie...still haven't reached this part you say about "@Zaara: note the little problem Shallan seems to have with her memories... Remind you of someone?" but I can't wait to get there....

Eeeeh... I'm now wondering if there's more than very subtle hints about that in WoK. I'll shut up so I don't spoil anything :p

Re Shallan...she is popular. Imam wondering whether she is popular bcuz of her wit or inspite of it. I have taken a vehement dislike to Kabsal...I dunno why but I suspect the poor guy of something...prolly just that I'm hankering for a bad guy in this book...none has appeared yet. Gaz I just feel sorry for and Sadeas, I kinda like despite his enimity with Dal.
I like Wit too. I haven't read Dark Tower and am not planning to but yeah...that'll do it! *dusts hands*
@Iniya...I'm glad you love Dalinar now...and that's a fair and very well-expressed assessment of your earlier dislike. I enjoyed that spoiler very much but I will take the opposite view...See, I like him for all those things!
πππ + He's just so...so...damn honourable + NOT as gloomy as Depressed Peter
What was your fave scene from the book? How long ago did you read it. I'm hard pressed to choose. Apart from Dal, I'm enjoying the Jas-Shall convos very much. Esp the debates.
Also as @Manu asks...Bridge Four's latest bulletins. Best was

Damn feels bad :/ I hate when I saw spoilers accidentally, I hope you still enjoy the book at the max potential. Still you don't have to feel bad because you don't know to half of it(revelations at the latter chapters)
Enjoy!
Also I'ld like to mention that I too (like many) loved Kaladin's POV more than others and heard that 2nd book focuses on Shallan and 3rd on Dalinar, it kinda makes me feel sad, why can't we have more Kaladin backstory!? Whatever maybe after 2nd book I might love Shallan more who knows? If they contain Jasnah as much as 1st book it's not a low possibility. (Jasnah is my girl dawg)

Sedat wrote: "...heard that 2nd book focuses on Shallan and 3rd on Dalinar..."
In that case for me it'll be getting thru a book full of Shallan (didja see the part where I say I vehemently dislike Kabsal? I have this complete unfounded prejudice) to get to Oathbringer...
Sorry to say this but I'm not really liking (view spoiler)
EDIT: I'm not sleeping. I'm staying up and readimg....

Kabsal seemed weird to me too!

Where are you on flashbacks by the way? I wonder what have you seen so far.

I generally hate gloomy parts of books, Now I'm getting used to them, so I am not surpised you like exactly those parts of Dalinar's POV :-)
I read it last month only... in WoK, my favorites were mostly Kaladin and syl's.. (view spoiler)

Nooooooooooo!
Here's a thought....come read the book with all of us right now. Maybe we can ask Andy to come too. Some of us are gonna be starting the BR late. Me (bcuz of WoK) and Scott (bcuz library) and Jess (bcuz Steelheart) sooooo you can come next week too..
+ you're fast...

Whenever we start a conversation like this I never stay on topic :)))

Forget abt it! Weird stuff is happening to that gal anyway; it was #smallstuff
@Iniya...thanks. You caught it before anyone saw it, I think! I wouldn't even have known if you hadn't said. I think 4 ppl are still reading.
@Beste....Ah a Dalinar spoiler! You really a smeetheart, Bella
:-D all you guys are so sweet, I swear. Women! They're wonderful.
Don't even get me started on Corbin and *sigh* Nathair. Wait...wait...I'm still reading you spoiler...AND I love when conversations stray outside the strict confines and we start pulling series together and comparing the heck outta them.

No...I dunno...I get to spaz abt wierd sh!t like...will the four stars I give Anna Karenina, say, be the same as the 4 stars I give to Dancing with the Duke? So I stopped rating. But mainly bcuz of my horrible taste....

I have this blind faith in ppl I love
This made me laugh out loud in the office:)))))))
Our this seriousness about book characters might seem funny to others.
About Kvothe:
I've read the book once and it was before I heard something- anything about Sanderson. So when I read your comment, I realized I'd think differently if I just read it only now.
About Dalinar's spoiler:
Well, I like spreading non-spoilery spoilers to increase tension :P

I know there is nobody here...but I gotta scold so I will just rant away...
@Manu...Munky reviewed and rated it, this one's just for you π But I won't be making it a habit, sweetz...
