That's a plus. But I'll take it that it's supposed to like there's no one main character?

We are sanderson fanatics... someone always starts early... and some of us are planning re-reads...

This series is 2 five book arcs... so 5 main characters and a large supporting cast... the main characters of the 2nd arc are supporting characters in the first arc...

I've been torn about starting this series. I've heard people say you should read Warbreaker first, is that true? Is Sanderson fairly reliable with publishing new books in a timelyish manner? I don't want to forget everything before new books come out. And I'm also intimidated by the size even though I've read book bricks before.

Same feeling :-P I started this book a while back, and was stuck at Dalinar's POV where he has visions/nightmares... Liked Kaladin's POV the best and Shallan's was okayish... Dalinar's POV is way too gloomy...! Will try to resume with the discussions going on here.!

Don't worry... there are plenty of people waiting to start on time... Siobhan and Zaara I think... and I won't be starting my re-read for another few days, I don't think...
Most of the early starters are newer to the group, I think, and haven't overloaded on Buddy Reads yet... just gives us something to respond to when we get there...

This is definitely a series about flawed characters... (view spoiler)

oh I'm impatient though.. His POV's are gloomy..!

how many times have you read this?

I think that makes sense ;-) I'll be patient :-)

Just the once... but I've read the rest of his stuff in the meantime... so I KNOW things now :)... and I can pay closer attention to the epigraphs...

Let's see how this goes!

Sorry about this, but I need to be honest with myself. I don't want to continue this book. I don't know why, and I've spent the last few hours trying understand why, but I can't. What I do know is that I want to read something else.
Why do I keep doing this to myself?

@Zaara - sorry to do this to you... again.... words fail me :-((((((((
Here I was, coming to say I'm starting my re-read today, only to find I missed all these bow-outs...
Anyone else's notifications all saying Invalid Date?... started yesterday...

I'm probably going to do that commenting on notable things in each chapter... they should be safe to click... anything that's a real future-knowledge spoiler will be in another set of spoiler tags inside... click THOSE at your own risk... altho so far, even those are minor/vague comments, I think... we'll see how explicit I get in the future, once I/we get to the meat of the story... nothing like Scott's awesome Malazan Dissections...

Mine are. I was wondering if it was because of me meddling with my laptop clock, but apparently not.

Don't get me started on Eshonai... that's book 2, mostly, anyway...
I'm hoping to be more forgiving of Kaladin's depression this time around... but I can feel my opinions about Shallan in books 2-3 coloring my perceptions of her in book 1 a bit (negatively)...

I am actually enjoying Kaladin's POV more than the one of Shallan. The depression aspect is making me enjoying it even more haha

I finished Part 1, read Part 2, and started Part 3 at work last night...
I find myself shaking my head a lot when a character shows up, thinking Oh, *insert name here*... so many character have such rocky roads ahead of them...
The Chasmfiend Hunt: (view spoiler)
The epigraphs in Part 2: (I list some epigraphs in here and their references to Elantris, Mistborn, and White Sands... further Stormlight Archive spoilers are buried in deeper tags)(view spoiler)

And nothing that you can't handle, you!
So read with us.
No Dani?
Were you fearing I wouldn't show, Dan?
See I'm here.
+ no Morte either?
Oh the irony....
😂😂😂😂
Never mind you two. No pressure, no fuss + there are always other books.
But still 😂😂 & where the heck is that Shivorn?
Catching up on Temeraire and Obsidio and something else, I think...
I'm already on Part 4, Chapter 55 I think... post some more thoughts after work...

My spoilers are dangerous... they mention events in certain chapters, then tempt you with REAL spoilers in deeper tags that most people probably shouldn't click...
First-timers should just read the top level stuff as things to pay attention to... things that might seem innocuous if not paying close attention, basically... altho I burned through the book too fast to do that with every chapter...

I'm almost done with my re-read now... the ending sequence is great... still love it... the Kaladin's (view spoiler) is easier to bear on re-read, and is probably my favorite of the 3 storylines after reading Words of Radiance and Oathbringer...
I guess I'm on the Kaladin-train now guys!... :D
Cusicesh: (view spoiler)
Almost all the Death Rattle epigraphs have meaning, now, after Oathbringer (and WoR): (view spoiler)
spoiler-tags galore... I think that's enough for now :)

Thanks for tagging as much as you can though, Iain. :)
Zaara, you want to start tonight? I am still in the middle of Temeraire but can try and read the first chapter tonight. :)
Dani and Morte, sorry you're not feeling it! Maybe one day you'll feel like picking it up again. :)

If you go back to chapter 1, the page before it says
Part 1
Above Silence
Kaladin * Shallan
And when you reached part 2, it said:
The Illuminating Storms
Dalinar * Kaladin * Adolin
I don't think these are spoilers, since the part titles are a type of poetry invented by Sanderson, and don't directly correlate to the material...
