Karis | 220 comments Sorry, for my indecision on which category I was going to chose. I've had a busy few weeks and haven't had much time to read. I just posted by book on the review thread. I did Task #29 Winter Carriage Ride

Karis, I understand. I had a very busy few weeks as well. Thanks for posting your review. =)

Grace Morris | 206 comments So looks like we're in round three. =)

So I was thinking about reading One Enchanted Christmas by Melissa Tagg for Task #15. O Christmas Tree (*Read a book that has a CHRISTMAS TREE on its cover or in its text.)

So what tasks is everyone else going to do? And who would like to do the bonus task for this round?

message 54: by Karis (last edited Dec 14, 2017 06:48PM) (new)

Karis | 220 comments I'm planning on reading The Christmas Star for...

#20. Behold That Star, This is the Star of Bethlehem
*Read a book that has a STAR on its cover or in its text.

Deanne, Task #24's already been done in Round #2. Is the book you're doing the one you're currently reading-- On Christmas Day A heart-warming wartime saga to bring hope and happiness for winter 2017 by Rosie James ?

It sounds like that book might count for several different tasks. Most of the time as I'm reading my book I realize it could count for quite a few.

Maybe it would work for

#19. Christmas Party/Gathering
*Read a book that has a gathering of people at Christmas on its cover or mentioned in its text.
or #15. O Christmas Tree
*Read a book that has a CHRISTMAS TREE on its cover or in its text.
or #25. Christmas Gift Giving
*Read a book with wrapped gifts, wrapping paper, or wrapping bows/ribbons on its cover or in its text.

I'm sure as you're reading it you'll find a task that would work for it. I actually printed the list of task so I could have it handy and keep track of who has read what.

Deanne Patterson (cnnamongirlaolcom) | 406 comments I'll do this task

#13. It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas

Karis | 220 comments Hey, everyone! I just finished my review for the book I chose as my task (number twenty-one) for this round. I was wondering how everyone else is doing in their challenge?

If no one else wants to take the bonus point this round, I'm sure I can find a book that will count. I've been trying to read more Christmas books lately. :P

message 62: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments Is task 28 still available? Also, do we need someone to read the bonus book?

message 63: by Grace (new)

Grace Morris | 206 comments Hey Karis! I just finished my book for task 15, but still have to write my review. =) Should have that done in the next day or two. So cool that you already got yours in. =) And if you would like to do the bonus task for this round that is okay with me.

message 64: by Grace (new)

Grace Morris | 206 comments Hey Tiffany, it looks like task 28 is available for you to do if you like! =) Also I think Karis was thinking about doing the bonus task this round (see Karis's comment above).

message 65: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments Ok. I think I have a book for #28. I just wanted to check about the bonus task. I should have my book finished soon.

message 66: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments Yes! I just got a book on Netgalley to review that will work perfectly for task #28! It even fits for the bonus task. Oh, I also wanted to let everyone know how much I’m enjoying our team. I wanted to thank everyone for not waiting till the last minute to get tasks done. It’s making this so much less stressful. Also, we need to be careful with our bonus tasks. If we choose a task with a bonus point, we should make sure that the book we choose fulfills the task and bonus. Losing the bonus points can really hurt us in the challenge.

message 67: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments Yes, I'm planning on reading A Wreath of Snow (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...) by Liz Curtis Higgs for the bonus task.

Thanks, Tiffany! And so true. ;) Great job at finding a book that worked in both cases for task #28.

Just got my review and post done! =D

And yes, Christmas break is wonderful for giving a few extra minutes for reading. ;)

message 70: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments Yay, I saw, Grace. I just finished reviewing and reading the bonus book.

So, it looks like the only one who hasn't chosen a book is Jamie. I did read and review a novella that would work for task #25, so if Jamie's too busy, we could count that one. I might message Jamie and see.

message 71: by Karis (last edited Dec 25, 2017 04:20PM) (new)

Karis | 220 comments Okay, so Jamie's okay with me taking her task. So, that one is done. So, that means only Deanne and Tiffany have to post their reviews. Here's our progress this round so far:

Task #20 - Karis // 1 Point
Task #15 - Grace // 1 Point
Task #25 - Karis // 1 Point
Task #13 - Deanne?
Task #28 + BONUS - Tiffany// 2 points
Bonus Book - Karis // 1 Point

message 72: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments I just finished my book and am about to review it. We still have the bonus book covered?

message 73: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments Tiffany wrote: "I just finished my book and am about to review it. We still have the bonus book covered?"

Yes, Tiffany. I read and reviewed the bonus book already. We're done for this round except for Deanne who needs to finish hers.

And thanks, Tiffany.

message 74: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments I’ll check on Deanne

Grace Morris | 206 comments Hope everyone here had a very merry Christmas! =D

message 76: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments Yes! And great job, team, at getting all the tasks read this round. This is such a busy season, so that's really quite the feat.

message 77: by Grace (new)

Grace Morris | 206 comments So Round Four is here! So I am thinking about reading Bah Humbug, Mrs. Scrooge for Task #5 Winter Beverages.

What tasks is everyone else going to do?

Also who would like to do the bonus book? It looks like we need a book that has FIREPLACE, WOOD STOVE or CHIMNEY on cover or in text. I don't think I will have very much time to do a extra book review after I do the one for task #15 this time around. So if you have a book that fits the bonus round and would like to read it, it's okay with me. =)

And great team work everyone! We got a lot of reading/reviewing done so far! =)

message 78: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments How much of the cover needs to be Red for task #35?

message 79: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments I can do the bonus book if no one else is yet. Is this good enough for stripes on the cover for task 14’s bonus task? Unrivaled (Against All Expectations Collection Book #6) a novel by Siri Mitchell The man’s suit has stripes.

message 80: by Grace (new)

Grace Morris | 206 comments Hey Tiffany. I think that for task #35 the majority of the book's cover needs to be red. As in the main color or the cover's focus is red or a red object. A good example book for this is might be

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

(you don't have to read this book for that task, just trying to pull up an example from the top of my head).

As for the book you were looking at for task 14's bonus task.... There does seem to be some stripes on the man's suit. Though I am not sure if the book would count for that task or not.... (I'm a little puzzled if it would count). What do you think Karis? Mouique?

Also if you can do the bonus task for this round, it's okay with me. The book needs to have a fireplace, wood stove, or chimney on the cover or in the text.

message 81: by Tiffany (last edited Dec 30, 2017 08:03AM) (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments Instructions for a Secondhand Heart by Tamsyn Murray Would this count for #35? I’d prefer to do task 14 but the Unrivaled is the first book I’ve found with stripes on the cover, so far. I’ll take care of the bonus. I think I already have a book for that one.

message 82: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Dec 30, 2017 08:58AM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Tiffany wrote: "Instructions for a Secondhand Heart by Tamsyn Murray Would this count for #35?"

This book would work well for task #35. :)

*How it works: There is a HEART on the cover and HEART is in the title.
*How it works for the bonus point: RED is a majority color on the cover.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Tiffany wrote: "Is this good enough for stripes on the cover for task 14’s bonus task? Unrivaled (Against All Expectations Collection Book #6) a novel by Siri Mitchell"

Yes Tiffany, the stripes on the man's suit on the cover works well for task #14's bonus instructions. To count for this task, this book will also need to have PINE, CINNAMON, or PEPPERMINT in its text.

message 84: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments Hmm... I think that Unrivaled will work for the bonus point for task #14. It says, "if the book has stripes somewhere on the cover." So, I'd read that, Tiffany, if you know that it will work for the rest of the requirements for that task.

Also, thanks for volunteering to take the bonus task.

I would say that Instructions for a Second-hand Heart by Tamsyn Murray would probably work just fine for task #35 too. The book can't get much more red. ;)

Thanks for being on the ball, Grace. I still have to decide which book to read. I've been on a terrible book hangover since reading a heartbreaking novella this Christmas break. LOL And since then I've been busy trying to get a book finished proofreading. I'll find one, though. I got quite a few books for Christmas.

message 86: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments It does. I checked and it has both pine and cinnamon in the text. Ok so I’ll do that one and get started on my books. ☺️

Though I can't remember when I have been in a book hangover, I can understand what your book did to you. Heartbreaking, how you trust another book with your heart? Lol ;)

Can't wait to see what book you will chose for this round.

And proofreading books can be fun. Sometimes it is really cool to hold a book that hasn't been published yet and be able to put in some input. Though I haven't proofread anyone's books but my own yet. I still need to proofread a couple of my books. ;)

Also I just got Bah Humbug, Mrs. Scrooge all read, just need to write up my review and get it up in the next few days. =D

message 88: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments This really is a first for me, Grace. ;) I always thought people we making up the whole "book hangover" thing. LOL

I wasn't planning on reading this book for my task, but since I did read it, I think I'm going to count it. Tomorrow I'm back to school, so I probably won't have much time to read after that.

90 Minutes in Heaven A True Story of Death and Life by Don Piper for either task #32 or #31

#31. Groundhog Day (February 2)
*Read a book using one of the following options:
- One of the main characters has to relive a particular day multiple times.
- One of the main characters has amnesia or memory loss.

#32. Super Bowl LII (February 4)
*Read a book using one of the following options:
- A scene takes place in Minnesota.
- A FOOTBALL is on the cover or in the text.
- A character plays football.

And, yes, proofreading can be a lot of fun. I typically enjoy it quite a bit. Finding time during the holiday season to work on it can be hard. Hard, but rewarding when it gets done.

message 89: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments And thanks, Tiffany and Grace. I'll just try to get my review typed up as soon as I can.

message 90: by Deanne (new)

Deanne Patterson (cnnamongirlaolcom) | 406 comments #30. Happy New Year!
*Read a book using one of the following options:
- The turn of a new year is mentioned in the text.
- FIREWORKS are on the cover or in the text.
- The page count contains TWO of these numbers: 2-0-1-8.

I'll do this one. I don't think anyone has called it yet! :)

message 91: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments No, I don't think so. ;) Thanks, Deanne.

message 94: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments So we're all done for this round except one more task that Jamie hasn't spoken up yet for. I just finished messaging her to ask if she had a book in mind.

message 95: by Karis (last edited Jan 07, 2018 05:29PM) (new)

Karis | 220 comments But I have read and reviewed an extra book during this round, This Changes Everything: How the Gospel Transforms the Teen Years, that I knew will count for task #2, if Jamie's too busy.

message 96: by Grace (new)

Grace Morris | 206 comments Round 5 is here!

So I was thinking about doing task #23. Nativity Elements and use the book Miracle Child by Grace Given.

I'm not sure how much time I am going to have because of work, but I might be able to do the bonus point for this round as well, if everyone is okay with it. I was thinking about the book The Amish Doll: Amish Knitting Novel by Karen Anna Vogel. Which I checked and it has a character who can knit. So it would fit the round, if I am able to read it on time.

So what is everyone else going to read?

message 97: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments I love that enthusiasm, Grace. ;) I'm really looking forward to this round as well, and it sounds like you have some great books in mind to read.

I'm so horrible about not knowing which book I'm going to read from the challenge at the very beginning. I read quite a bit, but sometimes I don't always know which book will have the task I'm going to count. I have a few books that I'm planning on reading within the next couple of days, so I'll have to check over their back blurbs to see if they will give me a hint which task I'll do. I'm planning on reading Through the Tunnel which is set around Christmas, so it should count for a task, I'm sure.

message 98: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Murphy (tiffers919) | 989 comments I'm going to do task # 21. I found a book that starts with M (Manger) and was published in December for the bonus.

Ah, thank you Karis! I just try to find my books early on so I can keep working on some of my other projects and will be able to read without having to find the right book.

Since most of the books I have been reading I never read before, I sometimes really have to think or look for something that will work for a task. Recently I have been looking on my Kindle for good reads for the challenge, by looking at the covers and searching up words. ;) So I understand with not knowing what book to use right away. I will sometimes look at two to three books before deciding. I think that you are doing great at the challenge!

I am sure Through the Tunnel will work great for one of the tasks. :)
