Truly Madly Guilty question

If you're talking about Vid, I think he was Greek. I don't know why you would think he was a terrorist unless you're just racist & think any mid-eastern type person is a terrorist. I think it was suggested he had criminal ties, though.

No Cindy ! I'm not talking about Vid. The line on Page 433 was just like that about (Harry's neighbor) . I'm not saying that anyone is a terrorist and the book was simply amazing.

Was Harry not talking about Vid? I thought it just demonstrated how little he (i.e. Harry) cared for actually getting to know anybody. Describing Vid as "Arab", when he clearly wasn't, and then the immediate roll in to "probably a terrorist".

So I picked up this book while on a retreat...bit of light reading. It started to sound Monty Pythonesque with 'on the day of the BBQ' for the umpteenth time. Absolutely the last time I will persevere with a novel in case something astounding might happen, which didn't! No wonder this book was abandoned at the hotel.

I think the line was just there to show the sort of person Harry was (Harry made the comment about Vid). I think it was supposed to show that he was a stereotypical crotchety racist old person who just made judgments about the neighbors without even knowing them (since Vid obviously wasn't a terrorist).
