3. Empire of Ivory

Woo second book earned! :D very happy.
Woo!... I see you're halfway through your high priority list...
I'm starting to feel lonely in these Buddy Reads :P... With the power of 1.5x speed narration, I've been starting Buddy Reads on time instead of early, and finishing before anybody else shows up... just did it again with The Emperor's Blades... I think Rob's on chapter 3... and everybody else is starting today/tomorrow/later...

Sorry you're starting to feel lonely, I am too for the opposite reason - I'm behind!
Thanks for still talking to me on Empire of Ivory :)
What's our next one? Last Argument of Kings? I promise to start on the right date and try to keep pace! :) I'm off work, so should have time!
Yea... considering how worried I was about keeping up a few weeks ago, I'm ahead of the game now... all done for the month except for Last Argument of Kings on the 27th...
Even if I wanted to go join in some more BRs, there aren't many to choose from... Low Town is apparently so bad everyone quit... Empire of Storms is so off-the-radar that only the first book has audio... I really am reading everything possible, it seems...
Don't worry about me... I'm complaining in jest, mostly... Like you said, I continue to comment on old BRs for weeks after until everybody finishes... reading as fast as I have been, I don't comment as much, because I'm usually reading 5-20 chapters in between posts (since writing spoilers on my phone at work takes forever)...

I feel you on the speed thing. I keep planning on starting BRs, but I either miss them, or finish before anyone get into them. Especially those I read on audio (2.5x speed). I will get it together and take part in a buddy read properly next month.

Haha yeah fair point Anni, you're still on Before They are Hanged xD keep on going! It's worth it!

I happened gradually, but I think thats my comfy speed. I think that's probably the rate at which I read so it works.

1.5x to 1.75x is my natural reading speed I think... I always viewed the slower rate of audiobooks as the one major drawback... balanced by getting more reading time each day... since I started speeding up my audiobooks a few weeks ago, I've removed the only drawback... and I don't think I can go back to the slower listening speed anymore...

I only started using audiobooks this year.
I'm a research scientist so there's all this time during the day when my hands are busy but I can wear head phones, so add that to my hour commute every day, and you get lots of reading time I wasn't using before. At 2.5x speed I'm getting lots more reading done.

I stock shelves overnight... get 5-6hrs reading a night... now I'm accomplishing 8-9hrs of a book in an 8hr shift... short books take a day... medium length fantasy takes 2 days... long fantasy takes 3-4
I've been using audiobooks more and more the past 3 years... I did all my reading on Kindle before that... and physical books before 5 years ago...

Physical books are still my favourite.

Siobhan's Book Pledge Challenge 1 [Goal: 5 by 31/12/2017]:
1. Thief's Magic ✓
2. The Girl of Ink and Stars ✓
3. The Well of Ascension ✓
4. Empire of Ivory ✓
5. The Lies of Locke Lamora ✓
I don't think I will list the books for my next pledge, just add them as I read. I could do with less planning!

I've filled in A Skinful of Shadows as my round 2 reward. But I've also got Warbreaker and Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection on their way and I'm not going to put myself in the hole for them.
Gift season is over, so anything other than free books will count now!

Thanks sweetie 😘 I definitely think you should start this challenge ;)

Yayyy! Do you know which mini challenges you're going to use? It's so fun haha. Though I haven't had any success with my bookends one, had no time for anything but buddy reads.

Well I sometimes read my kindle books too. Doesn't mean you're failing. But it will make you think more about reading books you own I reckon.

I might do a separate pledge for my kindle books actually, as they are getting a bit out of hand. But I don't want to restrict myself buying them as I only buy 99p ones on sale anyway.

Ahh poo my kindle is dead 😂

It's one of my favorite excuses from a Contemporary Romance series I like... the husband uses it any time the wife doesn't like something he is teaching their children... eventually she uses his favorite argument-ender against him in response:
"That sounds like something Hitler would say"
The book is Happily Ever Ninja
