I've got an Asgardian take on the Rainbow bridge in the anthology "Still Waters." The book is billed as a "Noblebright" anthology, described as "fantasy with a thread of hope even in the darkest hour."
My story "Cat Gardian" started out when a FB acquaintance said he'd alway thought of the Rainbow Bridge (for pets) as *the* Rainbow Bridge (to Asgard.) As a longtime fan of Thor comics I then started thinking "What if Skurge had a cat?" Once completed the story was mythological Asgard instead of Marvel, but signs of this story's genesis can still be seen.
Reviews have been good. Here's an excerpt: "The story of Kisa the cat surprised me. I'm not very familiar with Norse mythology and so I didn't anticipate many of the events. When I understood the story that was actually being told I almost had to catch my breath with the emotional impact of it. Anyone who has cared deeply about a pet will connect with this one. Mr. Taloni, thank you for this lovely tale."
