But what if you were in Adam's shoes? I honestly don't know... Maybe he's convinced himself that pushing through it is the best option, maybe he wants to keep an eye on his mother, because if he's not around she will suffer... I think his perevarence is his way of protecting his own.

I feel bad for Adam and his situation. I would have offered him my home as well. I do agree with Eleni that he may be staying to protect his mom but I also think his pride at least in his eyes is at stake if he takes Gansey's handout.
