Chrissy | 387 comments I read Sourdough by Robin Sloan, a novel about food culture, tech culture, and the Bay Area. It was the monthly group read, but I wanted to read it because I loved his other books. I’d definitely recommend especially for foodies and people from the Bay. It was a five star read for me, and a very quick one! (2 evenings)

Did you choose a nonfiction book or a fiction book? Why? I chose a fiction book. I usually read more fiction than nonfiction and there wasn't a nonfiction food book that caught my interest outside of what I've already read.
Would you recommend? Yes. It's a light read and I liked it overall. It was a little dull for me in the beginning but it picked up, and it was interesting reading about the bread making process and food culture. Also, for the sake of the prompt, I really appreciated that the starter/bread is central to the plot throughout the story.

Did you choose a nonfiction book or a fiction book? Why? I chose a fiction book, because it was the group read.

Would you recommend? No. It was a light, easy read but light fluffy reads aren't really my thing. I also got pretty bored with it. Ultimately it was not to my taste. Although it did spark a desire in me to try making bread again.

Did you choose a nonfiction book or a fiction book? Why? I chose this fiction book because it was the group read and I was able to get it from my library in time. For the food prompt I actually read 1,000 Foods To Eat Before You Die: A Food Lover's Life List earlier in the year.

Would you recommend? I might recommend it to someone who is looking for a light and quick read book.

Did you choose a nonfiction book or a fiction book? Why? Fiction. I have intended to read this since I heard it existed, but the group read was a good excuse to read it now.
Would you recommend? Yes! Loved it. Set itself up well for a sequel...
