Mel (melreader1) | 36 comments Apparently Audible has changed their format. I've had problems ever since the change and was wondering about some of the decisions. I can't vote anymore on whether or not a review is helpful; I can't find the *Top Reviewers* choice so I am unable to find my favorite reviewers, or the people that I've tracked (unless I add them to my *People That I Follow* list, and I don't want to got through that whole process every time I look up a book); I can't make sense of how the reviews are listed now?? I see all of the most current reviews (most of them unhelpful one-liners) for pages and choosing another option doesn't change my screen. I've already had Audible technicians work on my page 4 times. They were helpful, but all explained that this is the "new Audible." I don't see the changes as positive or helpful -- quite the opposite. While i appreciate the intention...Audible, I want the former style back!
While I'm at it...I miss the scrolling feature *Who is reading what list.* It gave me suggestions I never would have thought of.

Penelope | 77 comments I noticed that I can't open my wish list on my lap top or desk top. I can open it in Kindle but it's not easy to scroll through the books like it was on the lap top.

Chrissie | 1529 comments I do not like the new format either.

In another thread I have brought to others attention that our rating of audiobooks are sometimes altered. I have noted this when I tried to make the performance rating is higher than the story or overall rating.

I dislike that now when you move a book to your basket and then move it back to the wish list it is no longer put at the top of the wishlist, but back into its old placement. The old system was useful in prioritizing which books you want to choose first.

The one thing we all want, to be able to search for a particular narrator among our library books, is still not possible!

Audible.uk has not installed the new format and I am very glad. I am a member at both places and more and more often I prefer the UK version.

NOW, if you buy two books for one credit, if you want to return one and get your credit back you must also return the other book. It didn't use to be like this. It is not like this at Audible.uk.

I see no improvements whatsoever. I am an extremely good customer.

I totally agree. What is going on??... what happened to the top reviewer choice?? Who do we complain to? Now I am reading reviews of people that have rated 2 or 15 books max. I want to read what avid readers think!!

Exactly! I don't find anything informative with a review that just claims "this book is great!" It isn't a very well thought out format. It makes me wonder who they are listening to.

message 6: by Jeanie (new)

Jeanie | 4024 comments The new format is less accessible and much harder to navigate. I don't mind change if it improves things, but few of the changes improve anything... but they do make some things worse.

I agree about the Wish List mentioned above. While I like having the sample and a delete function right there at each title, it is ten times harder for me to navigate the page using my screen-reader. I expect to use my Wish List less often now.

message 7: by Mel (new)

Mel (melreader1) | 36 comments I hadn’t even noticed the Wish List problem! I’m writing mine on a pad of paper by my computer now. Hopefully these are just bugs Audible didn’t foresee and will fix. The community feel prior to this new format was something I valued. I like getting the Editor’s input, but then I read how few books most of them have read and was shocked! They have amazing customers that read all kinds of books. I’d love to hear from more of those people.

Robin P | 1727 comments About reviewers, under Listener Page, you can see top reviewers and choose to follow them. I get an email when one of them has reviewed something. I look through a bunch of their reviews to see if their tastes are similar to mine before I choose to follow them. A few of them seem to have stopped reviewing, so then I drop them. Otherwise for reviews by listeners in general, I try to look through a number of them to see what was liked of disliked. Sometimes it is silly, in my opinion, like "I hate stories told in the first person" or "the book jumped around in time", things that wouldn't stop me, or even "the character was whiny" - I think whiny characters are realistic as most of are whiny a lot of the time!. But if a lot of people just find it dull or especially if the narration is bad, I'll pass. Or if it seems unnecessarily violent and grim (I'm not opposed to violence if it serves the story but there are limits.) I'm amazed that some people actually follow me, so I feel obliged to review most of the books I listen to.

I've never thought of reviewing as an obligation to followers, but I think that's an interesting way to look at it -- I like getting a new view that broadens my views! Thanks for such insight. I have just over 7600 followers and I wish they actually followed my reviews so I felt like there was reason to be writing. I've cut back since the votes have gone down, thinking that members didn't want to hear what I had to say anymore. I enjoy the process, but wonder if it is worth the time I put in. Thanks again for posting...I'm going to look for you on Audible!

Emily VK | 31 comments I too am really curious why they are de-emphasizing reviews. I used to like to see the highlighted reviews when I was browsing in the genres.
Do I understand from the above that they are not weighting the more highly rated reviews so they are on top? is that a recent change?

For reviews there is still a "sort By:" function. You can choose Most Helpful or Most Recent. You can also choose Audible versus Amazon reviews. Audible and Most Helpful seem to be defaults unless you've selected something else... or there aren't any Audible reviews. The next time you go to any book's page the selection of the kind of review you want appears to remain the last one selected.

message 12: by Mel (new)

Mel (melreader1) | 36 comments My page doesn’t show any difference between *most helpful* and *most recent* even when I switch the choices. Most helpful ends up being the review most accessible whenever a reader looks at the reviews instead of the review that is actually most helpful. It ends up meaning quantity over quality. Theoretically, if you post “OMG! I loved it!” At the time when the most people are looking at reviews...your review will be *Most Helpful.* Hmmmmmmm

The several pages I checked did show different reviews when I toggled between Most Helpful and Most Recent. How they determine what is Most Helpful seems to be on a percentage basis between votes for Helpful vs total number of votes. The earliest reviews may have the most votes but will have accumulated enough Unhelpful votes to drive down the percentage. It does seem that a review has to cross some threshold number of votes to be Most Helpful even if it is 100%--1 out of 1 Helpful votes is 100% but doesn't show up ahead of 9 of 10, for example.

wow! 7600 followers, I'll have to look for you. I usually forget to mark if a review is helpful. I should do that more, as they often make a difference, whether in buying or passing up a book.

message 15: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie | 1529 comments When I am considering an audiobook I find you get more comprehensive reviews about the book's content at GR. Some of us who write reviews here at GR do speak of the narration too. I do b/c I want too keep track of the narrators for future audiobook listening. You also get an idea of the quality of narration by the performance rating at Audible. After checking out GR, If I am still interested I then glance through the "most helpful" Audible reviews for information about the narration.

message 16: by Specs (new)

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 494 comments I also check the Audible reviews on comments about the quality of the sound (e.g. flaws/missing parts). It doesn't happen often, luckily, but it's such an annoying thing in an audio book.

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 223 comments hello@audiblerange.com is where we can go to leave input and comments. Maybe if enough of us post they will bring back the "top reviewer" tab!! I personally want to hear from those that review many books in many genres over those that review only a few and only in the genre of that book. Please take the time to leave a short request to bring back something many of us use.

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 223 comments Your welcome Chrissie.

I am just now experiencing how I could definitely use the "top reviewers" tab. Half of the reviews say one thing, half say something else. All have only a few reviews. Top reviewers would have helped me to choose. Argh😖

John | 3922 comments I almost exclusively use my phone for Audible-related stuff these days, with the only major exception being to paste my GR review there as well, if applicable (pasting on the phone is a real pain for me).

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 223 comments What happened to the "see your review" option when you bring up a book that is in your library? Sheesh, the further I get into this format change the harder it gets to navigate. NOT an upgrade for users!

Try going to you listener page. I found one of my reviews on the last page of pages and pages of reviews...the first review had 9 out of 14 likes; mine had 32 out of 35 but it was still buried. I can’t find any of my old friends and their reviews🧐🙁. I still can’t vote, and when I can my vote doesn’t show up. I can’t make sense of it.

message 26: by ✨Susan✨ (new)

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 223 comments What???....what a mess. I know I could find my reviews there but what a pain to have to navigate. They took out all of our useful tools.

message 27: by John, Moderator (new)

John | 3922 comments One thing that I do find a plus is that it's much easier to delete items from my wishlist, which used to be a pain but is now pretty much instantaneous.

message 28: by Jeanie (new)

Jeanie | 4024 comments I agree, John, deleting is easier... and I've had to delete a bunch from my WL because, while I can view up to 50 items per page, now I can't go to Page 2! Maybe it's a cosmic way of forcing me to have 50 items or less on my Wish List. :(

message 29: by CatBookMom (new)

CatBookMom | 1082 comments My WishList looks different, very white-space. But I've been able to go to page 2,3,and 4. And the series name/link, which used to be in a separate column, is now highlighted under the book title. Took a bit for me to find that.

My Library so far looks the same; good thing, I've got 50+++ pages of books.

message 30: by Jeanie (new)

Jeanie | 4024 comments CatBookMom, the reason I can't go to Page 2 is because my screen-reading program doesn't show it as an actual link and clicking on it does nothing. It's an accessibility issue that has plagued me for BOGO sales and some links on the book pages. I have yet to find an answer for the problem, though I'm still looking, and would b happy for any hints others might have.

message 37: by Mel (new)

Mel (melreader1) | 36 comments My issues are not with my browser according to your technical support team that worked with me on 4 different incidents. I have received many “we will look into this issue; we have passed this information on to our Audible team” replies in the past with no follow up. Hopefully this will be addressed with the many Audible members voicing concerns. I looked through the reviews again this morning and am still getting pages of no ratings or 1 out of one ratings that I have to go through to see higher rated reviews. Would sincerely like to see Top Reviewer option reinstated.

message 38: by Mel (new)

Mel (melreader1) | 36 comments THANK YOU to Audible members that have taken the time to share their experiences with Audible and their new format! I love audiobooks, and have also enjoyed their original series of productions that are only available through their site. This format change has been a disruption in one of my favorite pleasures! I believe their intention was to improve the site and hope they listen to customers and realize they need to take this *new & improved* version back to the drawing board.

Hopefully this will provide another place within Audible for some of you to articulate frustrations of your own.
